Check Out Isaiah Sanchez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Sanchez.

Hi Isaiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Top Shine Window Cleaning with my wife Chelsea Sanchez and our third partner Aaron Bidwell in February of 2022. I started cleaning windows and gutters professionally in 2018, shortly after the birth of my first child and fell in love with the trade almost immediately. There’s something about clean windows that was always a lot more visible and rewarding than a lot of the other trades I’ve worked in, so it was no brainer when deciding what kind of trade, I could bring to my community when it came time to open up my little family business. However, it was the news of my wife and I expecting our third child that really inspired us to branch out on our own. We wanted to live our lives in a way that was more accommodating to our needs as a family and, like many other entrepreneurs, we knew we were never going to attain the lifestyle we wanted while working for someone else. Suddenly the long shifts and late evenings that had provided us so much comfort and stability seemed more restricting and inflexible than we ever thought we would allow, and things had to change. Now we offer our services to the community so that we can bring smiles to their faces and fresh sunlight into their home. Getting the home or business shined up nicely so our community members can focus on their other priorities.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth is not the word I would use to describe the process thus far, but I am grateful for every bump in the road for what it’s taught me and my team. Sure, there are financial obstacles and forms that have to be filed correctly when starting a business, but the biggest struggle I can think of is just building the confidence to risk it all and set up shop for yourself. Sacrificing stability for the unknown and taking on all that risk. We’re fortunate to have had an extremely receptive community, and they’ve done an amazing job of welcoming us and easing some of our more immediate concerns, but we’re still in our infancy as a business and can’t say that we’ve even begun to accomplish all of the goals we have set out for ourselves.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Top Shine Window cleaning is a home/facility maintenance company that specializes in glass cleaning and gutter cleaning, with an emphasis on exceeding the industry standard and our community members’ expectations of quality and professionalism. We further specialize in high-end residential cleanings but don’t feel that any job is too big or small to provide an excellent service. Our most distinguishing feature is undoubtedly our quality of service and the lengths we go to in order to give knowledge and power to our community members, so they can make informed and responsible decisions about the maintenance of their homes or business. However, I am most proud of how much we’ve been able to accomplish as a team without sacrificing our values. Especially the values that contribute to a happy, healthy home, and the values that allow us to cut zero corners with our service. We called ourselves “Top Shine” to set a standard for ourselves and we work tirelessly to uphold that standard.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
In a word, I was a “problem”. I was as mischievous as they come and had a really hard time with authority that some argue has persisted into adulthood. My saving grace with my peers was that I was also very sociable and friendly, and with authority figures in my life, I was very curious to learn new things, ambitious, and intensely self-motivated. I’ve always preferred to think for myself and steered away from outward opinions and perspectives in favor of developing my own view of things and to help remind myself how much more I could be doing to sharpen my understanding of a situation. When I made the announcement that Top Shine was open for business, many of my friends and colleagues were “not surprised” that I wouldn’t settle for life as an employee and many were surprised that I made it as long as I did. However, all of those years taught me some incredibly valuable lessons about what it takes to operate a business, and without that experience, I couldn’t speak with nearly as much confidence about what I’m capable of.
