Check Out Jacob Serrano’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Serrano.

Jacob Serrano

Hi Jacob, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Jacob, and I’m 24 years old. I am a musical artist and musician. I’m from Dallas, Texas, and I love music. Since I was a kid, music has been the one thing that allowed me to be myself. I started taking lessons and competing in music in middle school, and I haven’t stopped since. Today, I teach, perform, and make music, and I am grateful for every opportunity and blessing that has come my way.

Has it been a smooth road? If not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced?
It hasn’t always been rainbows and butterflies pursuing my dreams as a career, but at the same time, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. COVID-19 in 2020 was tough, but I have had super supportive parents. Now, I am doing what I love and am starting to see the fruits of my labor as a career with many opportunities.

Thanks for sharing that. You could tell us more about your work.
I work as a teacher, music director at a church, performer, and songwriter. It has been so fun to share my art with others and meet and share so many incredible experiences. I have seen kids grow up and share my knowledge of music and life with them. I have made music and released it on all streaming platforms, and people have reached out on social media to tell me that my music has made them happy and brought them joy! I have also performed at weddings and parties and have seen how the gift of music can mean so much to others, and I am grateful to share it with them.

Before we let you go, we have to ask if you have any advice for those just starting.
Don’t give up; take advice from trusted mentors and those you love. First, you have to take advantage of any opportunity you can get. Also, don’t let the fear of not being perfect paralyze you and stop you from doing what you love. Sometimes, you have to do it and learn from your mistakes. At the same time, you never know when your actions might impact and benefit someone else’s life!
