Today we’d like to introduce you to Jala Tryon.
Jala, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing locs in college by offering to do some of my classmates’ hair for free. The process as a whole was interesting to me, so I self-studied, found classes, and eventually found a salon to work in, whether I could further my knowledge and experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No not at all, from moving cities (I’m originally from Houston, Texas) to trial and error in finding a work location for myself, this journey has definitely had its ups and downs.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed cosmetologist. I specialize in locs. Anything from routine maintenance to repairs, extensions, and more. I’m most proud of the progress I’ve made this far.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I love a good Audible book. Educational podcasts, anything where I can continue to learn about my craft.
