Check Out Jennifer Montez’s Story

Hi Jennifer, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started working at Avalon Salon as an intern fresh after graduating Cosmetology school in 2010 and worked there for a couple of years. Later worked at a makeup counter at Nordstrom’s. I enjoyed what I was doing both at Avalon and Nordstroms; however, I knew it was not my long-term goal. I met Tisha, who own a bridal company, while I was at Nordstrom’s, and I started working with her bridal company in Dallas doing both hair and makeup, and that’s where I discovered my true passion. I worked for a few years with multiple different bridal companies until I went on my own in 2016 and started Jmglamour. I started with one girl on my team who I met in this beauty industry and is still on my team now! My bridal company has now grown into a team of 15 girls who are not only talented but dedicated, loyal, and passionate about our job! My company offers on-location hair and makeup stylist for weddings all over DFW. When I started jmglamour we started with about 10 weddings a year, and we now do over 200 a year! I won the knot best of weddings for 7 years in a row, we won Hall of Fame with The Know in 2021, won 4 years of Couples’ Choice awards with wedding wire, and have been featured in Brides of North Tx magazine since 2019. In 2022, I got the cover of Brides of North TX magazine issue! That was a dream come true! I opened my bridal studio in North Dallas in 2019; however recently in 2023, I renovated the studio and now also have other salon/office suites for other vendors! My goal is to continue to grow the company and our team and style over 5oo weddings all over the DFW and expand to other states in the US! Would be awesome to start styling some destination weddings as well!

It has not been a smooth road! There has been plenty of tears along the way! However, it’s been a true blessing to be on this journey, and I couldn’t be more thankful! As we grow and get more weddings, one of my biggest struggles is finding the right girls to join my team! There have been plenty of weddings we have had to turn away for not having enough team members! It has been challenging keeping up with social media, the administrative work, being on call  whenever our clients need us, and expanding my business all while having my own little family!

My company and I offer hair and makeup services for weddings all over DFW area! We have won the Best of Weddings awards for 7 years straight, including Hall of Fame through The Knot, featured in Brides of North TX, and was issued on the cover of Brides of North TX in 2022, won 4 years of couple choice awards with Wedding wire. However, I am most proud of how dedicated and passionate my team and I are. We go above and beyond for our brides and their party! We have also opened an office/studio suites in North Dallas and are looking for vendors interested in leasing with us!
