Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Czubinski.
Hi Jerry, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
A walk trough my story and how I became Santa – After 25 Years in the Navy and a four year tour with the Navy’s elite Blue Angels, i’ve been working on how to fit into this civilian world here in Texas, how to give back, find my path and what road this chapter in life takes me. This particular chapter began after a ” No Shave November” to support Prostate Cancer Awareness back in 2019-2020…………..while sporting my beard during the Christmas Season, my awesome sister Kim reached out and asked if I could ” Pretend” I was Santa Claus and call her granddaughter Brook who was acting up a bit with the arrival of her brother Zander. Of course I was up to the challenge to portray such an iconic Holiday Hero. I asked her to give me a few little tidbits the ” Only Santa would know” we scheduled a FaceTime Call and talked to Brook from the North Pole and mentioned to her that she was on Santa’s Middle List and still had time to make it to the nice list by being a helpful big sister, listening to her parents, helping everyone and being the best big sister Zander could imagine……….she did just that and I made another call on Christmas Eve on what a great help she has been and such a wonderful big sister and made it to the Top of the Nice List.
Well with social media and word getting around that Santa was alive and well within friends and families reach and after a bit of research on Local Texas Santa organizations and resources Blue Angel Santa Claus was created. Year after year we have grown and expanded our visits throughout Texas and even as far as overseas via Zoom, FaceTime and TEAMS. We have been Blessed to give back to a number of local charities to include Moses Closet, BCS Together, BEAR Foster Resources, George R. Brown Super Feast Events as well as a few others. We also work with an amazing group of folks at HireSanta who have been on Shark Tank, Mitch Allen and his team provide us with local visits and events including Channel 13, Houston Museums, Local sports Teams and events, to name just a few.
We also have a number of remarkable photographers that have helped us grow and spread the Christmas Spirit and Magic of the Season. Our Season starts in September not to include Christmas in July and we have been booked up a year in advance and still try to make room for more local or virtual visits. It’s been an amazing Chapter for Mrs. Claus and I and we embrace the future.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Hmmmm Struggles……I wouldn’t call them struggles but growing pains and learning points to make us better and sharing the Magic of Christmas. We are actually working on turning another room in our home into a photo studio……..yes another room…….we have already turned our game room into ” Santa’s Office” where we can do family visits as well as all our Virtual North Pole calls are done from. With us venturing into opening up another room will give us a chance to invite families that would or might not have the means or be able to make the trip to visit Santa at a professional photo session. Never a Struggle when Santa and Mrs. Claus are a Team.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In this Chapter of Sailor to Santa we like to bring a bit of the Aviation side to the North Pole. We have created a number of items to go along with our Christmas journey and adventures. We have a Full Size Reindeer Harness from Rudolph along w/ his collar. We have created Magic Reindeer Shoes that are only used on Santa’s Christmas eve Flight. This year we are also adding, Reindeer stall Name plates – the story is…….that Mrs. Claus removes the old Name plates and installs Bright and shiny new ones dury their Christmas Eve journey. We give away the ” Old” tarnished Name plates.
We also have a created a unique pair of Junior Sleigh Pilot Wings that are attached to a collectable card embossed and signed by Santa.
This Year we have also created something special for Mrs. Claus to give out to the children both young and old on becoming a Member of the ” Mrs. Claus Cookie Club” , it is a special magnetic cookie shaped button that includes a embossed and signed trading card with a Sugar Cookie recipe on the back.
Each of these Christmas trinkets come with a unique aged parchment drawing that give it the ” Right off Santa’s Desk” feel, they are like old style Blue Prints that Santa and his elves would use to make these items.
We strive to set us apart with these unique items that tell that story and not available anywhere else.
Always thinking of new, unusual and unique things to capture the magic and spirit of the North Pole and the Claus’s.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes us happy………..so many things, to be gifted with this opportunity to spread joy, giving back and seeing the smiles and happiness. This journey is just not a month long event, it’s a daily responsibility that has been bestowed upon us to share the Christmas Spirit 365 days, when I walk into Ace Hardware or our local grocery store I Am Santa Claus and all that he portrays, children don’t see me a ” Jerry” the old guy with the Snow White beard and twinkle in my eye, they see Santa. The peek around the corner, the little ” oohhh my” is that Santa look, the whispers to mom and dad or mom and dad whispering back to their children. The joy we give to children young and old, make us happy and Blessed beyond measure. It’s a gift
