Check Out Jess Pugh’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Pugh.

Jess Pugh

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For far too long, I sold myself short. I didn’t think I was capable of greater things. I finally realized that I needed to take a chance on myself. I walked away from what I knew and stepped right into my career. I studied to take my State exams for property & casualty and life & health. Let me tell you, it wasn’t the easiest thing to do, but was so worth it. By believing in myself, I quickly became one of the highest producing team members specializing in life insurance and small business insurance. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish what I have if it wasn’t for my other half being by my side, believing in me and pushing me to believe in myself. He saw in me what I couldn’t see in myself. And I wouldn’t have become successful if it wasn’t for my boss taking a chance on me and allowing me to find my groove that has developed and grown into a passion for helping others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I spent too much time in self doubt for far too long and decided to pick myself up and pave the road for myself. I had to learn it was ok to fail sometimes because I knew through trial and error I could do anything I set my mind to.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work full time for Jenny Weidner State Farm and specialize in life insurance and small business. For me, success is measured by the progress people make when their needs are met and their futures are built on a solid foundation. Shaping the trajectory of someone else’s life. Because of what I do today, from my professional career to my personal career to my love of reading and writing, I would have to say ‘m most proud of myself. I didn’t “crumble” under pressure but thrived. I look at the hurdles I face as stepping stones. I push myself to be better than I was the day before. I make it a point to learn something new each day and find a way to apply, what I’ve learned, to areas in my life. And by doing just that, I started my own business, on the side, baking breads. I believe putting love into your baking really does make a difference. Baking, for me, is great therapy. I am able to clear my mind and put my all into each loaf. It’s still a work in progress, but aren’t we all? My passion for writing has been reignited. Writing out my recipes got me thinking about creating my first of many to come cookbooks. But I’m not stopping there. I’m excited to start my first series of children’s books. I have developed my main character and the journey, filled with adventures, this character will embark. So, please stay tuned. It would be an honor to have my first readers be the very ones reading this article.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck. I have been blessed by having Trip Ghetaway by my side pushing me to become better and to see the potential I’ve always had. He taught me to believe in myself and to pursue the dreams I had from childhood. To be successful in business and still find passion and time to do the things that make me happy like writing and baking. Finding balance. I love to write, read and bake bread. I pour my heart into all that I do.
