Today we’d like to introduce you to Jia LaFrance.
Hi Jia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am a makeup artist and an online boutique owner. My passion for makeup artistry and skincare developed while I was a student of cosmetology at Delta Technical College in Ridgeland, MS. After graduating, I was determined to perfect my craft. Makeup artistry has allowed me to travel, work with, and meet some amazing people of all walks of life.
I’ve always been what some would call a “fashionista”. I am most known for my unique and eclectic sense of style. For years I wanted to open my own online boutique, but I let fear get the best of me. After moving to Ohio in 2019, I finally decided to go for it and JIA LAFRANCE was born.
Running an online boutique has its challenges but I am perfectly fine with every step of the journey. It allows me to be expressive and creative as I please while serving an amazing customer base.
I moved to Dallas, TX in February of 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic and I am so grateful that my online business was able to thrive and grow during that time.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
No road in life is smooth, but my road has definitely been one worth traveling. I struggled with a few things once the pandemic began. For my safety as well as others, I had to suspend makeup services for that entire year. Also, with the mail carriers being so behind, I had a lot of issues with missing packages and inventory. Other than that, I have no complaints. Obstacles will occur in life no matter what so I’m always prepared for the unexpected.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a makeup artist, I specialize in bridal makeup, SFX makeup, and natural glam. My online boutique is known for glamorous accessories and stylish clothing. I am most proud of being able to share my gifts with the world knowing that I’ve positively impacted so many people by doing so. Showing up as myself unapologetically is what sets me apart from others.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about the city is how many options I have when it comes to restaurants, bars, and lounges. What I like least would definitely be the traffic.
