Check Out Josh Drake’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Drake.

Hi Josh, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Pleasant Grove TX and was labeled class clown every year in school. I consider that to be my first claim to fame. All of my classmates saw comedy in my future, which I didn’t necessarily accept at first, but I decided to give it a serious shot at 22, and I’ve been doing it ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With anything in entertainment, you’re going to have your good days and your bad. In my case, there’s been a little bit of both of those, but I’m fortunate to have experienced way more good than bad. There have definitely been times when I’ve questioned my decision-making when it comes to certain events that I’ve put on. In some cases, they haven’t turned out to be profitable, but at the same time, I see them as learning experiences which is invaluable.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional host and comedian, mixed with a dash of event planning and promoting. I love putting on special events myself, which I host and bring out other comedians and performing acts. I also pride myself in having a talent for building relationships within the world of comedy that will catapult my career to other heights, because at the end of the day I know I can’t do it alone. My passion for comedy is what I feel sets me apart, and anyone that decides to do business with me should know that I do everything in my power to make anything that I’m involved in a success.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t be afraid of people not laughing, because your audience won’t always give you the reaction that you’re looking for. To get around that, I tend to psyche myself out and not dwell on the fact that the crowd wasn’t engaged and that I bombed. It’s easy to focus on the negative, but it’s important to always put out positive energy.
