Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Vaughn.
Hi Julian , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in music at age one, learning piano, but quickly realized it didn’t excite me. I discovered Hip hop through my dad and we used to listen to Outkast, lil Wayne and Kanye a lot growing up. In middle school, I picked up the trumpet and discovered music production after hearing Kanye West’s Yeezus for the first time—it completely changed how I approached creating. From there, I dove into rap and began shaping my sound and artistic identity.
After graduating from art school in 2018, I continued building my world, expanding beyond music into magazines, fashion, and visual art. Today, my brand, EVERYONES*BURNING, represents the culmination of my creative journey: a reflection of my passion for contemporary and avant-garde art, fashion, and hip hop and alternative rock music.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I grew up being told I wasn’t going to be anything or amount to anything. I knew I was gifted but I didn’t understand that gift until I grew up older. The gift of taste. When I turned 19, I realized that my path is something I have to shape myself. Along the way, I faced grief, push back and uncertainty, and many of my earliest ideas were met with resistance from all angles. But each challenge pushed me to refine my vision and truly understand who I am as an artist.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a multidisciplinary artist, working across music, fashion, visual art, and publishing. I specialize in creating immersive worlds that blend contemporary and avant-garde influences with hip hop culture. My work started with music I produced and wrote myself, and over time, it expanded into magazines, clothing, and visual storytelling.
I’m most proud of building my brand, EVERYONES*BURNING, which is the culmination of everything I am—my taste, my vision, and my voice as an artist. What sets me apart is my ability to merge different mediums seamlessly, crafting not just songs or visuals, but entire experiences that reflect a cohesive aesthetic and perspective. I focus on originality and authenticity, and everything I create is a reflection of my journey and the worlds I want to bring people into.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love the most about Dallas is the culture my people bring. Getting together and feeling like a family no matter what part of the city you’re from is a great feeling and I feel at home whenever I’m here. What I like the least about Dallas is that sometimes we get in our way when it comes to growth and expanding. If the people in higher places in this city had more of an open mind I feel like this city would be a utopia!
