Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Jewett.
Hi Kaitlyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kaitlyn Jewett! Im 23 years old and I’m from Cleburne Texas. I grew up in a musical family. Both of my parents Sing and Played Guitar. I started singing way before I started playing guitar. I started playing guitar when I was 5 and wrote my first song at 5. (Though it wasn’t the best). I started playing on stage with my dad growing up doing song swaps. In 2022 and 2023 I auditioned for season 22 and 23 of The Voice and in 2024 I auditioned for American Idol. In between my auditions i’ve played in various places, doing what I love and Meeting new people. Ive traveled in between Texas all the way up to West Virginia. Besides performing I really enjoy songwriting. Ive got close too 180 Original songs. I know a little absurd, but once i get on a writing spree it’s hard to stop! Currently I have 2 Singles “Wish I Was Pretty” and “ Again & Again” as well as and EP (small album) Reflections out on All streaming platforms under Kaitlyn Jewett with a New Single called “ Record or Two” Dropping on NEW YEARS!! Its taken so much heart and dedication to get to where I am today and I wouldn’t change it for anything. Music has been in my life forever and I couldn’t imagine my life without it. Its been one of my biggest blessings to do what I love everyday. I have a huge support system and an amazing husband who supports my journey with all the ups and downs it comes with. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t think it’ll ever be a smooth Road. Things change all the time. The music world is constantly moving. Theres so many talented artists and songwriters who have and haven’t been seen. Theres good and bad days when working in the music industry. Let’s just say you’ll get many No’s before you ever get a yes. I wrote Wish I Was Pretty about the music industry in a relationship perspective. Im not the perfect size Nor am I perfectly pretty. Sometimes all it takes is looks and size and boom you’ve made it. But I’m rough around the edges. I’m real. I write from feelings and experiences. Even If I “make it” The road may be prettier but I do believe it won’t always be smooth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Not Only do I perform but I also Own Bluebirds Music Academy. Teaching and Inspiring others who enjoy Music just as I do. I specialize in vocal and songwriting, as well as teaching guitar piano and ukulele. but outside of teaching a specialize in songwriting and performing. I’m most proud of my dedication not only to my students but to myself and keeping music alive for all ages. I want to see others succeed in what they love as well as see myself succeed in what I love. Those things will never be easy. You have to work hard for the things that you want. It’ll be the most beautiful and rewarding thing at the end of the day
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
i’ve taken many major risks. I left my home two different times to fly all the way to California for three weeks apiece to try out for The Voice for Millions of people to watch on television. it was scary and intimidating. There was so many other talented artists that it made me question my worth as a musician, and thats a scary feeling. but I reminded myself that music has been my life for such a long time. I got out on stage in front of celebrities that have done this forever and I got no chairs and that’s what made me stronger in my music career too keep going because nothing could stop me from doing what I love the most.
