Today we’d like to introduce you to Karen Cruz.
Karen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my photography journey November 2020. I have always had a passion capturing moments either of me or my loved ones. I had my baby in July and I wanted to do something where I could still be with my son and do something I love. I finally purchased my first camera. I’m not going to lie once I purchased my camera it was just sitting in the corner until I just started practicing with my son and family. I finally had the courage to open an Instagram account. Once I started advertising my work people were starting to recommending me. I was so happy and excited to start this new journey. I honestly never thought this would be my real job now. I am so blessed to be able to have such a supporting husband that was able to support our family emotionally and financially through this process. For him, I am so thankful.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely, it has not been a smooth road. Starting your own business is so scary in so many ways. There have been times I want to quit or get to overwhelmed. But if seen how far if come in such little time and just keep pushing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I wouldn’t say I specialize in something right now I’m still trying to figure out what I want to focus on. At the moment I really have no limits from maternity sessions to engagement sessions love them all. Honestly, every new session I do is my most proud work. Because I can see my work improving in so many ways.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel like the most important characteristic is to be confidence in yourself and your work, don’t compare yourself to others. You have to learn what works best for you. Success takes time patience is key.
