Hi Katie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I was a ballet dancer and freelance graphic designer before I started Line & Kind Paper Co. In both of those jobs, I constantly brought someone else’s vision to life and craved something that could truly be mine.
Over the course of a few years, I worked on a series of illustrations that eventually became my debut line of greeting cards. Ever since, I’ve been hooked and found a wonderful community in the stationery world. Five years and 150+ products later, Line & Kind Paper Co. is the colorful, thoughtful, well-designed stationery & gifts line I’ve always envisioned!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Something that has always been a challenge is the comparison game & motivation. There are periods when your peers are hitting all the milestones you want, but you’re not quite there yet. Your question, “Why is this working for them but not me?” “Is my product not good enough?”
It’s sometimes tough to remember that I have my own voice and artistic style. I will get there on my own time. At the same time, this affects the urge to keep going. It comes and goes in ways, but I know if I stay the course, I will get to those goals eventually. But let’s be real! It is tough; it gets in your head, and sometimes you just want to take a break.

Line & Kind Paper Co. is an indie stationery & gifts brand that specializes in greeting cards, notepads, stickers, art prints, and more with a colorful and thoughtful feel.
It’s become known for its simple aesthetic, but we are not afraid to play with color and heartfelt messaging! Thoughtfulness and meaningful messaging are at the heart of everything we create.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always the shy, quiet one, and several people told me I was last on their list that they would start a business.
Through events and pop-ups, I’ve come to love face-to-face interactions; seeing how people react to what I create and hearing the stories of how they share or gift the cards is perhaps my favorite thing.
