Hi Katy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m Katy Morgan and my business partner is Becca Bowen. We are the owners of Hues to You, a DFW-based interior design and paint color consulting business. We have over 20 years of experience in the paint, design, and business management and a lifelong love of color and creativity. Becca has worked in the paint industry her entire career, while I have career experience in sales, design, and business. We make a great team since we have such a broad range of skills and unique experiences.
Hues to You was founded in 2020 with one mission: to help people feel more confident in their design choices—especially when it comes to paint colors. There’s nothing worse than painting a whole room (or a whole house!) and realizing it doesn’t feel quite right. That’s where we come in. We use color theory, lighting expertise, and a whole lot of real-world experience to help homeowners, builders, and real estate pros get it right the first time.
We both feel incredibly lucky that we get to help clients visualize their dream spaces from blueprint to finishing touches. It’s the perfect balance of creativity, collaboration, and strategy—and we absolutely love what we do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most small business owners, the road has had its share of curves and bumpy construction zones! One of the biggest challenges has been showing people the value of professional color consulting. A lot of folks think picking a paint color is easy until they’re staring at 50 swatches of white and second-guessing every choice.
We also had to learn the back-end of business quickly—things like invoicing, marketing, sourcing trade-only products, and managing timelines. But every challenge helped us grow stronger and more strategic, and now we get to pass those lessons on to our clients and collaborators.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Hues to You is a paint color consulting and interior design business that focuses on creating cohesive, intentional spaces—from a single room to full home renovations. We specialize in helping clients avoid costly paint mistakes, choosing the right finishes, and visualize how all the pieces come together through mood boards, and curated palettes.
What sets us apart is the level of personalized attention we give to each project and empowering people to make design choices they’ll love for years to come. We don’t just hand over a list of colors—we walk clients through lighting conditions, undertones, finish options, LRV (light reflectance value), and even how a color will read at different times of day. Whether you’re trying to get HOA approval for a group of townhomes or deciding between five shades of greige for your living room, we bring clarity and confidence to the process.
We care deeply about saving people time, money, and headaches. Whether you’re painting one room or a whole house, there’s a real cost to getting it wrong—financially and emotionally. Our goal is to take that weight off your shoulders and make the process not just easier, but actually fun.
We also frequently collaborate with builders, realtors, painters, and other designers to make sure everyone’s aligned.

On the local side, we’re continuing to grow our collaborations with painters, builders, and real estate professionals across the DFW area so that we can help more homeowners. We’re also starting to take on more full-service design projects and possibly growing our team in the near future.
We are slowly working toward stepping even more into the education side of design—helping clients not just choose what looks good, but understand why it works. Whether that’s through social media, blog posts, or eventually in-person workshops, We love sharing the “why” behind great design and color theory and psychology.
There’s definitely growth ahead—but always with the same mission: helping people feel more confident, creative, and at home in their spaces.
