Check Out Kori Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kori Taylor.

Hi Kori, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I am a licensed nail tech who started off just experimenting with something that I loved to get done. If you know me, you know I KEEP MY NAILS DONE! Now, this is my profession! I am a full-time nail technician at Miniluxe nail salon in NorthPark mall. I am a great nail artist as well who has a passion for the arts.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh nooooooo. Nothing about this journey has been smooth. My mom did not support me initially; she wanted me to follow my childhood dream of being a nurse. I tried it, it did not work. When I started, I offered free nail services to girls I went to school with, and I had soooo much support… until I got better. Once I started charging for my sets, I lost a lot of “clientele.” I used to be hard on myself because of it. I knew that my skills weren’t as crisp as they could be, but it was definitely worth the $25 I was asking for. So, I almost quit because of that too. I couldn’t find a school at first, I almost didn’t get accepted into the program without having to pay weekly. Oh my goodness! So many hurdles came up, but I cleared them all so far. And though it is a constant battle, I continue to fight for my dream daily.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in nail art. I am a nail artist. I am an artist period. I have a deep love for the arts in general in any form. From musical to theater, to culinary. Anything creative intrigues me. At this point in my career, I am known for my dope artistry skills (even though I’m still perfecting my craft) and cartoon nail art designs. I am most proud of my drive to overcome each and every obstacle that tried to get in my way and even the ones that are here today. What sets me apart is my ability to create whatever my artistic mind envisions. I have always been able to look at a picture and copy it on paper without tracing it, and now I do it on nails.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My creativity for sure, my passion, and my discipline.
