Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Gabhart
Hi Kyle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely! My journey has been anything but linear, but each step has been purposeful. My passion for finance, business, and problem-solving was sparked early on, watching my grandfather and father navigate their own bold journeys.
For the first fifteen years of my career, I worked as a consultant for Fortune 500 companies in finance, insurance, and defense. I gained invaluable experience, but I felt a pull to do something more personal—something that would allow me to have a direct impact on people’s lives. That led me to Edward Jones in 2014, where I shifted my focus to working one-on-one with individual investors.
In 2020, amid economic uncertainty and shifts in the financial industry, I founded Bluegrass Legacy Group. I wanted to provide a higher level of responsiveness and personalization to my clients—helping families, business owners, and nonprofits navigate financial, tax, and estate planning in a way that empowered them to leave a lasting legacy.
Beyond finance, I’ve always had a passion for writing, speaking, and mentoring. My wife, Tammy, and I lead Equip Your Marriage, a ministry focused on strengthening relationships through books, workshops, and hands-on mentoring. I’m also stepping deeper into the publishing world with my latest book The Canteen: Abandon Self-Sufficiency and Fully Rely on God, set to release in summer 2025. In it, I share lessons I learned as a 19-year-old young man on a month-long mission in Africa.
At the end of the day, everything I do—whether in finance, writing, speaking, or mentoring—is about helping people steward their gifts, make meaningful decisions, and create a legacy that lasts.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Transitioning from Fortune 500 consulting to personal finance was a big shift, requiring patience and trust-building. Launching Bluegrass Legacy Group brought its own hurdles, but I knew clients needed a more responsive, personalized approach. Balancing business, family, writing, and ministry is never easy, but struggle refines us. Every challenge has been an opportunity to grow, trust God more, and deepen my impact.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I wear a few different hats, but at the core of everything I do is a passion for helping people steward their resources, relationships, and legacy. As Managing Partner of Bluegrass Legacy Group, I specialize in guiding families, business owners, and nonprofits through financial, tax, and estate planning. Clients know me for making complex financial concepts practical and relatable—often with a little humor thrown in.
Beyond finance, I’m a speaker, author, and mentor. My upcoming book, The Canteen, challenges readers to abandon self-sufficiency and let go of the metaphorical canteen they are holding with an iron grip. We operate in a delusion of self-sufficiency and think we can be our own saviors through grit and determination. But this is a hollow, dead-end road. The only hope is to release our ego and fully rely on God.
What sets me apart? I take a holistic approach—whether in finance, faith, or relationships—helping people make meaningful decisions that shape their future. I’m most proud of the lasting impact I get to have, whether it’s helping a client secure their financial future, guiding a couple toward restoration, or inspiring someone through my writing. At the end of the day, it’s all about legacy.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Adaptability. Life, business, and relationships are constantly evolving, and the ability to adjust while staying grounded in core values has been crucial to my success. Whether it was transitioning from corporate consulting to personal finance, launching Bluegrass Legacy Group in uncertain times, or balancing entrepreneurship with writing and ministry, being able to pivot without losing sight of my mission has made all the difference. Success isn’t about avoiding challenges—it’s about responding to them with wisdom, resilience, and faith.
