Check Out Lee Walter’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Walter.

Hi Lee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my journey as an actor in 2003. My first show was Les Miz in high school and I was hooked. My next step was applying for The American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City (I was accepted but didn’t stay long). I moved back home to work on my craft a bit more which is when I discovered drag. I was able to combine the two in some shows back in Abilene TX. The move to Dallas TX was made in 2006 where I began auditioning for whatever show I could be seen for and competing for whatever amateur drag show I could find. After years of that, I began booking plays and musicals and finally landed my very own Drag Show at Woodys. That show is still going strong today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were times I struggled with not knowing what to do next. Not knowing where my next check would come from. Being weighed down by the constant “no’s” while striving to get that one “yes”. Questioning my choice of being an actor. All things that come with the territory. It’s tough, but it’s what I signed up for. The thrill, the joy, the impact that we put on audiences is worth all of it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Since moving to Dallas, I’ve gotten to be involved with a lot of organizations centered around the LGBTQ+ community. I’m extremely proud of that. My work thrives there. I’m most known for being Jada Pinkett Fox (my drag alter ego). Whether it’s pageantry, brunches, charity events, even stage, she’s been visible. Coming from Theatre has given me a different outlook on Drag, and I think that’s what sets me apart.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
