Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexee Love.
Hi Lexee, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always wanted to be an actress. When I was in the 3rd grade, the school was performing “Peter Pan”. I was shy back then, so I didn’t audition for the play. But the desire never left me. I participated in the school’s talent shows. In the 8th grade, we performed “Beat It” by Michael Jackson. We won 2nd place. I loved to dance. I wanted to be a solid gold dancer back in the day. Of course, I was just a kid, but I definitely loved the arts. My mother paid for me to take tap dancing lessons. In the 10th grade, I performed again in the talent show. It was so lame. We just lip-synced and danced to the song “Mr. Telephone Man” by New Edition. They were the most popular male group during that time.
After that, I didn’t indulge in the arts again until my early 30’s. I was married and had children. Fast forward to 2007, living in Atlanta, I was able to take some acting classes. That opened up some doors for me. I was pregnant at the time with my youngest daughter, so I was a full-time mom after the birth, and I put my career on hold. In 2019, all my kids were old enough to do their own thing, so I auditioned for my first play and was cast in the stage play “All the King’s Women.” It was a lot of fun. After the second stage play in September 2019, things started to turn around for me.
I was cast in a horror feature film, but it was never completed. COVID happened, so everything stopped. After Georgia was able to start working again in the industry, I did a few background castings with “Tyler Perry.” I was cast as a principal character in a short film. The short film was funded for a full feature, but I was unable to accept the part.
I have had the pleasure of being cast in some amazing projects. In my current role, I will be a politician running for office, but something bad happens to my character. We should be filming it in late February, early March.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever a smooth ride in this industry. But along the way, you learn a lot about yourself. Each audition you do definitely defines your craft even more. I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. To tread through the ups and downs and give it one more try. When you do actually what we call “make it,” You look back on the struggle, and you tell yourself it was all worth it.
This industry isn’t for everyone, but the ones that stay till the end are usually the ones that will finish, and their goals are met with being grateful and thankful they didn’t give up on themselves.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I also write short stories, comedy skits, and full-length films. I’m sure writers base their stories on real-life events. Either from their lives or someone they know. I am not sure if that sets me apart from others, but all my writing is pulled from different events in my life. But I always make the principal character a woman, and I mean she is a BAD-ASS woman.
I have a few short films I wrote, filmed, and directed. You can find them on YOUTUBE. I currently have a full- feature script that I am trying to get investors interested in investing in my film project. The film has a plot twist that nobody would see coming. I was hoping to film it in 2026, but we are just in January, so we will see.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is when my little brother and I would film each other with those huge camcorders and just create off-the-wall commercials or funny skits about our lives as kids.
