Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily Jones.
Hi Lily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had this restless feeling that there was something bigger out there for me. I’m constantly chasing the next goal because I’ve realized that comfort is often just a sign of stagnation; if you aren’t uncomfortable, you aren’t growing. These last three years have been a whirlwind of pushing past my own boundaries. I’ve dived into my first photoshoots, navigated new jobs in unfamiliar areas, and moved five times—all while staying on top of my academic workload. I even pushed myself to do something I never thought was in the cards: walking my first runway. It’s amazing to look back and see how that single walk sparked a massive momentum shift. I am now approaching my sixth runway in just six months and collaborating with upcoming brands, all while preparing to graduate with my Bachelor’s Degree this May. It turns out, everything I wanted was just on the other side of being uncomfortable.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Admittedly, the road hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve had my share of challenges, from navigating the academic pressures of finishing my degree to dealing with the occasional lack of professional boundaries that can still exist within the fashion industry. However, I’ve learned that those hardships often serve a greater purpose. Without those hurdles, I wouldn’t have found the incredible community of creatives I’m surrounded by today—people I’m now proud to call my friends and collaborators. I feel incredibly fortunate to have built a support system of such genuine, uplifting individuals who push me to be my best. It’s those connections that make the hustle worth it, proving that while the industry can be tough, the right circle makes all the difference.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I am navigating the industry as a freelance model, though I’m at a very exciting crossroads. As I graduate with my degree in Marketing, Merchandising, and Advertising, I am eager to pivot those strategic skills into my creative work. I’ve always believed that modeling is more than just a visual medium; it’s a form of networking and collaborative art.
While I may be earlier in my journey than some, I’ve dedicated myself to refining my craft and staying authentic to who I am. The moment I am most proud of remains my first runway experience, Les Incroyables. Walking for the visionary Kevin Dwamina (@kevindwamina) truly opened the door to an entirely different world for me. That single opportunity sparked a chain of invaluable connections, including a magazine campaign I was invited to join by my beautiful friend, India (@indiajanay).
Looking ahead, my goal is to push myself even further this year. I’m focused on creating art that resonates and doing it the right way—surrounded by a community of supportive, like-minded creatives. For me, this is just the beginning of reaching new lengths.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My perspective on life and travel was largely shaped by my mother, whose passion for the outdoors and the world at large certainly rubbed off on me. I am forever grateful to have been raised by a woman so dedicated to showing her children the beauty of global exploration. She taught me early on that growth requires stamina.
One of my most formative memories is from when I was fifteen, when my mother and I tackled a 32.6-mile run. At the time, I was convinced I could conquer the distance without any formal training. What followed was a treacherous eight-hour journey that tested every bit of my resolve. Yet, between the adrenaline of seeing alligators along the trail and my mother’s unwavering encouragement, I pushed through to the finish.
Watching her complete multiple 100-mile ultramarathons has been a masterclass in commitment. She is a constant reminder of what it looks like to be truly dedicated to a goal. I carry that same spirit with me into my modeling/marketing career—a drive to stay committed, stay resilient, and always keep moving toward the next horizon.
