Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Cochrane.
Hi Lindsay, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, my story has a lot of twists and turns but that’s what to takes when you are following your dream! I will try to summarize it in the shortest way possible but I am a radio personality and love to talk so that’s hard lol. but I have lived and worked in 8 states in the past 10 years working in radio, but Dallas was always my dream market to work in radio in, and not to mention I am a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan my whole life wherever state I lived in! And one of my dreams is to work for the Cowboys as well on the post-show where I talk about the game from a fan perspective, and I haven’t accomplished that yet but if you can help me with the please contact me! I moved around till I could get to Dallas, So I moved around getting radio jobs in different states until I got to Dallas, just a girl a moving truck and her dream going state to state alone, which wasn’t easy not knowing anyone in a new state but I would NOT take it back for anything. My Dream in radio was to have a syndicated show and I HAVE accomplished that; it’s called life with Lindsay and airs nationally in 11 different markets currently! SO, after moving here to Dallas from Nashville and working for KLIF-FM (Hot 933) got the opportunity to do the syndicated show and that is what I am focusing on now! I am trying to make it a two-female show as well because I want to show the industry it works, because it is rare in the radio business, one day I will do that, mark my words. I also will eventually work in TV as well!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has absolutely NOT been a smooth road at all. People have this perception that I have a rockstar life but it is far from it. I’ll start by stating that being alone in a new state with no family or friends is pretty challenging, but I did get used to it and learned how to make friends quickly lol. And also working in the entertainment industry as an outspoken female has been hella hard. I have been told that I have no talent, that I would never go anywhere, and that I should be pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen. I have been fired because I wouldn’t hook up with people, yes that still happens, I have been paid way less because I am a woman, been overlooked for promotions and just jobs in general because I am a woman and I also worked for men that have been intimidated by me and fired me because they thought I would take their job or the spotlight, so yes needless to say it’s been a tough journey and when I write a book I will go more into detail of what actually happened and how I did NOT let any of it stop me!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a radio personality and voiceover artist. I specialize in relatable content and authenticity and that’s what I am known for, my slogan for my radio show Life with Lindsay that states Country Radio that is relatable because it is. I am most proud of my syndicated radio show Life with Lindsay because I actually own it. What sets me apart from others is my work grind, no one will outwork me and my authencity to my audience, I keep it real always and the audience gravitates to that because now more than ever because of the internet they can tell if you are being real or not.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I am actually a great radio personality because I was a great bartender, being behind the bar was the first place where I learned how to entertain and talk to people. Now I just talk into a microphone instead of talking to people at the bar, So I owe my radio career to bartending because I naturally gravitated to radio because I love to talk and music of course. I also used to do flair bartending competitions back in the day where you flip bottles, yeah, I am a jack of all trades lol
