Check Out Lindsay Walden’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Walden.

Hi Lindsay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I first fell in love with photography underwater — as a scuba diver for over 25 years, I was captivated by the beauty of light, movement, and stillness below the surface. When newborn photography first emerged around 16–17 years ago, I was instantly drawn in. I’ve always adored babies, and capturing those early, fleeting moments felt deeply meaningful.

What began as a passion soon grew into a portrait business centered around newborns — and eventually expanded to include maternity, family, and the underwater maternity work I’m now known for. I’ve always been someone who wants to make things easier, more beautiful, and more memorable for others, so building a luxury photography experience came naturally. It’s not just about creating stunning images — it’s about making my clients feel seen, celebrated, and cared for every step of the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road — but every challenge shaped the business I have today. In the early years, I ran my studio from home while raising three kids and managing a house full of pets. I worked hard to provide an exceptional experience even then, but balancing work and home life wasn’t always easy.

As my business grew, I knew I needed a dedicated space to truly bring my vision to life. Designing my commercial studio allowed me to create the kind of environment I had always dreamed of for my clients — calm, curated, and luxurious. From a dedicated hair and makeup room to an expanded gown closet with over 200 options, every detail was intentionally designed to pamper and serve. It’s been a journey, but one I’m incredibly grateful for.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in fine art maternity, newborn, family, and underwater photography — with each session designed as a completely customized experience. My goal is to make my clients feel cared for and confident every step of the way. From our initial planning consultation to professional hair and makeup, wardrobe styling from my curated collection of over 200 gowns, and thoughtful session design — we take care of everything. Clients simply show up and enjoy the experience.

What sets my studio apart is how deeply we invest in each session — nothing is rushed or generic. Every detail is planned with intention to reflect each family’s story, style, and emotion. I want my clients to feel like the artwork we create together couldn’t have been made for anyone else.

I’ve had the honor of mentoring hundreds of photographers from around the world and have been internationally recognized for my work, including features in People Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the CW Network, and numerous global publications. I’ve also received multiple awards for my portraiture — but what I’m most proud of is the way my clients feel when they see their images. When they tell me they felt beautiful, confident, and truly seen — that’s the greatest honor of all.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success isn’t measured by awards or accolades — it’s about the impact I have on others’ lives. Whether it’s helping a mother feel radiant during her maternity session, capturing a newborn’s earliest moments with care and artistry, or mentoring another photographer to grow their dream business, success is about creating something meaningful for someone else.

It also extends beyond my studio. I’m a mother of three, and raising kind, capable humans is my most important work. I’m also passionate about giving back — through my church and by volunteering with local charities, I’ve found some of the most fulfilling ways to connect with and support others.

Ultimately, if I can use my talents to bring beauty, confidence, or comfort to someone — whether it’s a client, a fellow creative, or a member of my community — then I feel like I’m doing something that matters. That, to me, is success.
