Check Out Litzy Rivera’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Litzy Rivera.

Hi Litzy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I graduated in 2020 from Pinkston High School in hopes to go into college and major in criminal Justice. During my high school years, I was involved in law classes, internships at law firms, attending court as a class, and doing mock trials. I’ve always seen myself in a courtroom fighting cases, but deep inside I’ve always had a passion for music and editing. I just never knew how to mix in two things in one because learning an instrument and playing in front of people kind of scared me. I did join the drumline during high school which helped with my social anxiety and speaking to new people. After I graduated high school and also after leaving an unhealthy relationship I started growing and exploring new environments. I got invited to a restaurant where my cousin Arath was going to be performing at. He currently plays in a band here in Dallas called Los Consentidos Del Llano whom I got to meet that night and I eventually got really close to them. After a few nights of going to see them perform, I spoke about my interest in doing edits, and thanks to them I finally figured out how to mix editing and music together. It all started out with making one edit for them as well as recording and editing the recap of an event and that’s what sparked everything up for me. Other bands in the area like for example Banda La Recia got in contact with me to do their edits and recaps. I have met so many artists, traveled, met so many amazing friends and I can honestly say. It was all worth it in the end.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy, but nothing in life is easy. I’ve always been a firm believer that if you want something you have to go for it regardless of what challenges you face. I think I get that mentality from my dad… He came here with nothing and in little time he built his own business, of course, it wasn’t easy for him, but he overcame so much, and he is still here thriving like never before. It was honestly difficult trying to balance my daily job to my side job especially knowing I’d have to be out late at night in these gigs, but it was amazing. I would sometimes struggle with finishing an edit in time because I would doubt myself and overthink if my job was even good enough, but after so many advices and good praises, I started believing in myself and my job. There was a moment where I took a break due to my personal life becoming a bit too overwhelming. I now had to manage my parents’ divorce and the passing of my good friend Tye with my social life and to be truly honest it was definitely a challenge. However, I do thank God for giving me the strength of overcoming every single obstacle thrown at me because it opened so many doors for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
LR films & edits as well as Rivera Music Promotions is based on graphic designs and recap films for bands within the DFW area. My graphic designs have helped me meet so many amazing people within the music industry and new friendships I’ve created along the way. I definitely would say that I am the most proud of my journey because like I’ve mentioned it has not been easy, but I managed my way through. I got noticed for my job by a company named Revista CD Records which specialize in doing publishing for big artists that I even grew up listening to and have been a fan of. They do publishing for Tucanes De Tijuana, Banda MS, Banda Recodo, Grupo Firme, El Komander, Los Avila, and other amazing artists. They put me up to a challenge to do a graphic design for a band and once I turned in my result the owner loved it and also helped me out in areas where I needed a bit of more help in. I eventually got offered a job and it was at that moment where I knew I was in the right place at the right time, and I was extremely proud of myself. What sets me apart from others would be my goal-driven mindset and my way of never being okay with staying in the same spot. I always like to expand my knowledge in every way possible as well as having different connections. Being a woman within this industry can seem a little bit scary and challenging because of the environments that I am in as far as where gigs are at, but I thank the people I’ve worked with because they have definitely always looked out for me.

What does success mean to you?
Success is accomplishing a long-awaited goal you’ve set for yourself. It’s something that motivates you to be who you are it is also a progress. Success is something that doesn’t come very easy and fast some things do take their time and hardships, but if you grow through it, you’ll get through it.
