Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Perera Jr.
Hi Marco, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Marco Perera Jr. (polo) and I am a videographer for POLORIZEDMYFILMS. I used to film/create short comedic skits with my best friend back in high school (2008). After we came across youtube for the first time and original YouTubers (NigaHiga and Smosh), we wanted to create similar videos. we did this for about 2 years and I believe this is where I got better at editing, self-taught. I started POLORIZEDMYFILMS in October 2020 when my girlfriend and I randomly traveled to Alaska. This is where I decided to buy my very first camera and take videography a little more serious. I filmed our whole experience (6 days) and made a short film. POLORIZEDMYFILMS was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, it’s been pretty great. I feel like I learn something new with each video I create/film. I’ve made mistakes for sure, but I learn from them immediately. It’s a really good feeling knowing that more people are interested in and entertained by my art
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently an aspiring freelance videographer hoping to make a career/business in filmmaking. I specialize mainly in filming live performances of bands/artists and creating short promos for them to share with their fans. I’m slowly dipping my toes into advertisement and shooting weddings. I am most proud of the promotional videos I create for bands mainly because they tell me I made them and the show look cooler than it originally was. Which is a great compliment to me. I don’t like to compare myself to other videographers, but I do put a lot of passion in my work and people do notice it. At the end of the day, I’m just having fun creating art and enjoying it very much.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always willing to work/collaborate with whoever I can get a good vibe from. Most of my videos are of friends in bands, so them being good people to hang around with makes it so much easier. I’ve had my youtube channel up for about almost a year (August 2021) and it is the main support I get from my audience. I also have an Instagram and Twitter where people can follow updates and new videos I release
