Check Out Maria Salazar’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Salazar

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My passion for all things beauty started when I was just 9 years old, sitting in front of my computer watching beauty tutorials on youtube. While in high school, I expanded that passion to doing makeup on my friends and family for special events. After getting diagnosed with cancer at 17, I took a step back to focus on fighting for my health and It wasn’t until my freshman year in college where Mar’s Beauty Bar came to be. I eventually stopped doing makeup because my love for Brows, Lashes and Nails was too big to ignore and decided to solely focus on that. For 3 and a half years of my career I was based in my hometown, Miami but in May of 2023 I decided to take a leap of faith and relocate my business to Dallas, Texas where I was welcomed with opened arms and met all of my amazing and loyal clients that changed my life forever.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think I’d be lying if I said it’s been easy, but it has definitely been rewarding. Getting diagnosed with cancer at 17 and not knowing if I’d make it to my 18th birthday put me in an “auto-pilot” mindset and I didn’t know where I was headed or if I wanted to pursue this as a full time career. Moving to a new state where I only knew one person was an emotional rollercoaster but if it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you. I’ve gone from working at home, salons, and my own suite and they’ve all had their ups and downs but I believe everything I’ve faced has brought me to where I am now.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Brow, Lash and Nail tech specializing in Gel-X, Russian Manicures and UV Lashing.

I think my attention to detail, unique techniques, and my ability to connect with my clients set me apart and allow clients to feel truly taken care of and valued. I am proud that day in and day out I am able to give my clients 110% every single day. I am also very proud that I’ve been able to use every curveball thrown my way and turn it into something beautiful:

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned in my almost 5 years in this industry as an independent artist has been to just keep going. You will grow through what you go through. No matter what gets thrown at you, what people say, and maybe the not so pleasant experiences you might go through, keeping pushing yourself to be the best version of yourself because future you will thank you for it.
