Check Out Marissa Wall’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marissa Wall

Hi Marissa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I discovered my passion for photography as a child while looking at photos in magazines. I received my first camera as a gift from my mother on my 11th birthday, and from that moment, I knew that photography was my true love. Starting with taking pictures of my family, I continued to pursue my passion through art education at the Art Institute. Eventually, I focused on wedding photography, where I enjoyed capturing the details, candid moments, and timeless posed portraits that tell beautiful stories. Growing up in a family that valued photography, I learned to appreciate the joy of looking back at old photographs and reliving precious memories. As I got older, I realized the happiness I could bring to others by freezing their special moments in time through my work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve faced challenges along my journey. I started by offering discounted or free photo sessions to build my portfolio and attract clients. I’ve also continuously learned new techniques and developed my own style. Despite the difficulties, I approach this experience with excitement..

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in wedding photography, capturing genuine moments. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and never giving up in a saturated field, creating true connections with clients and making them comfortable in front of the camera.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Shadowing a photographer taught me more than art school. It may seem intimidating, but it never hurts to ask! You don’t need a fancy degree. People want to feel comfortable in front of the camera and seek guidance to create beautiful images. When starting out, you will have to do free or reduced-price sessions. Word of mouth has been the best way to promote my business.
