Today we’d like to introduce you to Maurice Lindsey.
Hi Maurice, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Turning Passion into Purpose: Maurice Lindsey’s Journey
Maurice Lindsey spent nearly 20 years in finance, but his heart was always drawn to hands-on, meaningful work. Following his passion, he took a leap of faith and started Priority Contracting Services, a company that now offers valet trash, towing, and landscaping services to apartment communities across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
What started as a vision and a lot of hard work grew into a business built on trust, dedication, and community impact. Maurice’s story is about taking risks, embracing challenges, and proving that with focus and determination, you can turn your passion into a thriving business that makes a difference in people’s lives every day.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
From Chicago to Dallas: Maurice Lindsey’s Journey of Grit and Reinvention
I came to Texas from Chicago with everything I could fit in my Chrysler 200—$60 in my pocket. I ran out of gas in Arkansas, and my girlfriend at the time loaned me $30 to keep going. She sent me $90 more before I arrived, and that’s how I made it to Texas, ready for a fresh start.
I worked at Wells Fargo for two years before taking my first entrepreneurial leap: starting a valet trash service during the pandemic. A year later, I launched my first trucking company and made over half a million dollars—but within a year and a half, I went broke. I returned to finance to regroup, and nine months later, I came up with the blueprint for Priority Contracting Services.
My journey hasn’t been easy, but every setback taught me resilience, creativity, and the value of starting over with a clear vision. Today, Priority Contracting is the culmination of every challenge, every risk, and every lesson learned along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run Priority Contracting Services, a multi-layered contracting company serving apartment communities in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. We specialize in valet trash, landscaping, and towing services, offering a level of reliability and professionalism that’s rare in the industry.
What I’m most proud of is building a business from the ground up that not only provides top-quality service but also creates trust and lasting relationships with property managers and residents alike. We don’t just provide a service—we deliver peace of mind, and that’s what sets us apart.
I’m known for my hands-on approach, attention to detail, and persistence. I’m involved in every aspect of the business, from meeting with clients to ensuring our teams maintain the highest standards. Most importantly, I lead by example, showing that hard work, integrity, and vision can turn challenges into opportunities.
What sets me apart is my combination of financial discipline, operational know-how, and a relentless drive to improve. I’ve been through failures and setbacks, and those experiences taught me how to pivot, innovate, and keep growing—qualities that have shaped the business into what it is today.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as living a life where your work, your relationships, and your purpose are aligned. It’s not just about money or titles—it’s about the impact you make, the people you help, and the legacy you leave. For me, success means building a business that provides value to my clients, opportunities for my team, and stability for my family, all while staying true to my principles.
It’s also about resilience—being able to face setbacks, learn from them, and keep moving forward. I’ve learned that success isn’t a straight line; it’s about growth, perseverance, and knowing that every challenge is shaping you into someone stronger and more capable.
