Check Out Megan Moore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Moore.

Hi Megan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My story starts as a stay-at-home mom to 2 children under 2 with a husband who traveled 80% of the year. My children are only 17 months apart and postpartum depression and anxiety were taking hold of me. I lost myself. I lost myself in the cracks of motherhood with the day-in and day-out routines. One day I decided I had to make a change, which started with moving my body before the house woke up.

Physical activity can do so many things for your body and mental and emotional health and I was committed to making this change. After adding this to my daily schedule, I added journaling. I sat in the quiet of the house while everyone slept and poured time into me. This was my time for reflection and affirmation. I was determined to not let postpartum depression and anxiety take control of my life.

After spending months of journaling and moving my body, I became a different person. It was life-giving in ways I can’t explain. I was happier and more confident. I was a better mother and wife. I spent more time in gratitude and controlling my thoughts and reactions as opposed to living in sadness, anger, and judgment. After experiencing this transformation myself and having shared it with my friends and family, I decided to create this experience for everyone else!

The start of my small business, The Love Within Us, was born. I started with designing a complete affirmation deck full of 34 “I am” statements. I water-colored the designs and found a manufacturer. I also spent time designing a guided journal that resembled the format that helped me so much. This is where it all began. I now have 2 different affirmation decks, 2 different guided journals, and a line of accessories all focused on mental health and self-empowerment.

My mission is to spread love and light through affirmation. When we can love ourselves deeply and authentically through the hard times and the good with grace, love, and acceptance, then we can fully, deeply, and authentically love those around us. It all starts with the love within us. I have several decks planned for the future including a Spanish deck, a Children deck, Teenager’s deck, a Children’s Gratitude Book, and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have had some bumps in the road but I imagine that is normal. For example, the first batch of affirmation decks I had ordered came in and every single box had been printed incorrectly! Imagine the panic! I had already set a launch date and created buzz but it was the perfect time to practice grace. I remember feeling disappointed because ultimately it was my error in the design but mistakes happen and I was able to place another bulk order and had a successful first launch.

Ultimately, I try and remind myself that each small business has its journey and I have learned to love mine. My progress and growth have been slow and steady but growth is there and that’s all I can ask for. I have goals and dreams and my daily and weekly actions are helping me get there at a pace that feels good and I’m proud of that!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My affirmation deck was designed to have simple “I am” statements. I am worthy. I am committed. I am loving it. I am beautiful. Not a more complete sentence like, “I am worthy of living a beautiful life.” At the end of the day, yes, you are worthy of living a beautiful life, everyone is worthy of that. I want the simple “I am worthy” affirmation to be a place of reflection for you.  It is not my place for me to tell you how worthy, committed, loving, and beautiful you are.

I want you, the reader of the affirmation, to ask yourself what that affirmation means to you and how that specific affirmation makes you feel. You see, the power and the love is within you. When you pull an affirmation daily, this is quality time to reflect on each affirmation. This deck is universal because anyone can apply any affirmation to themselves. Each affirmation can take on a different look and feel different as we go through the different seasons of life and experience different challenges and successes.

If a certain affirmation makes you feel a certain way, that’s a sign that maybe you need to sit with it longer. What is this affirmation bringing up for you? How does your body change or feel when you speak this affirmation over yourself? Do you believe in this affirmation for yourself? Are you ready to manifest your love within?

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy. My husband, our 2 kids, 2 cats, & 2 dogs. They are my home and they have my heart. My husband is my rock and biggest supporter and I love him beyond words. My children are my light and they surprise me daily with how curious, smart, and funny they are. Watching them grow, love others, and explore all things has been my biggest joy. Our pets are special, each in their way, and they add lots of joy, playing, and hair to our home. My family makes me happy!
