Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Scott.
Hi Michael, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Born and raised in California mainly on a houseboat in Sausalito California started cooking it a very young age I was 14 years old with my first dishwashing job and went on to work in the industry for 38 years. I work numerous restaurants throughout Marin county Sonoma and Napa took an apprenticeship with sushi yen and lived in Japan and studied with my master chef show Gino came back to the states and it open the door for working in the American and European kitchens mainly are learning my craft at 23 years old I had my first executive chef job at Fountaingrove country club and worked there in California till 95 when I moved to Texas and became the executive chef at Lakewood country club and then Northwood country club now I am the corporate executive chef for a Rosewood TEXAS RAISED WAGYU BEEF owned by the Hunt family I also have a restaurant Meat Shop live music venue full bar Food Truck in Bartonville Texas my passion is food and living life well-paying it forward and sharing the knowledge I’ve been blessed with
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wake up every day thankful for what God has given me a career I haven’t worked a single day in my life although I’ve had many hours on the job it truly has been a blessing to find something that isn’t work but passion
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am very proficient in many cuisines I’m a member of the world master chef society certification a member of the American Culinary Federation certified executive chef and inducted into the Academy of chefs Circle of honor I have won many many awards medals competed in culinary Olympics been in 22 countries cooking I have cooked for Rockstars presidents’ royalty
What do you think about happiness?
In my business, you must nurture the mind,body, and soul and when I accomplish this and put in somebody’s mind a memory of happiness and fulfillment enjoy this is my greatest accomplishment
