Today we’d like to introduce you to Mitch Grace
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was diagnosed with what’s now known as Autism Spectrum Disorder during the Summer of 2010. I had always suspected something was “off” about me but I didn’t quite know what it was until I was diagnosed. After attending a private school that specialized in teaching students with “learning differences” as they put it, going to college and getting my Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees, and being in the professional world for a few years, I realized I had a lot to say on the subject of Autism. I felt like I could give practical, real-world advice for autistic individuals of all ages, as well as parents of autistic people. After some encouragement from my Toastmasters Mentor Scott Scheaffer, and with a lot of help from Jeff Savage, I was able to publish my book: Growing Up with Asperger’s Lessons Learned & Shareable Wisdom earlier this year!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There were a couple of delays that pushed back the release date of the book a number of months. I’m very glad I didn’t tell too many people when the book was coming out because I would’ve been wrong multiple times!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the Chief of Staff for an Oil & Gas Brokerage & Real Estate Capital Company! I also specialize in CRM Management, and working with and utilizing systems such as Salesforce & HubSpot to their maximum efficiency! I am also known for being able to generate reports that extract bits & pieces of data that would have otherwise gone unnoticed! I am most proud of contributing little things to company cultures, I am especially proud of making it a point to say hi to all of my coworkers when they first come in and when they leave for the day! Something so little can go a long way! What separates me from others is that I am able to earn trust quickly, to the point where I am given more important & confidential tasks and projects to take on!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Regarding the release of Growing Up with Asperger’s Lessons Learned & Shareable Wisdom, what matters most is if the book helps at least one person. If one autistic individual or parent of an autistic person feels like they’ve learned something about themselves or found useful advice in the book, then all of the trials & tribulations that came with writing & publishing the book will be worth it!
