Check Out Monica’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica.

Hi Monica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started from a young age watching my mom decorate for our parties and life events, eventually learning alongside her. I started making my own decorations when I could not find what I wanted at the local party store. I quickly realized the finished looks were even more special because I had created them myself. I started decorating larger events for family fifteen years ago. Over the years, I kept creating decor here and there. Once I helped a dear friend with a baby shower, my business bloomed and grew from there.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has not always been smooth. Battling self doubt and time management of motherhood while building a business have been the toughest struggles along the way. I had to start telling myself to “trust the process”. The road is not going to be smooth but that’s how you learn. If you keep going and don’t give up, you can come out stronger and better on the other side.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in custom decor designs for events and parties. I am not just a balloon business. In fact, I was making table centerpieces and wall decorations long before I even learned how to build a balloon garland. Now, balloon decor is about 85% of my business so I have been called “The Balloon Lady” a few times. I am most proud of my desire to continue to grow within myself and my business. I have learned techniques and been able to tweak them into what works best for me and my work. My industry is extremely saturated with lots of talent from many artists. From the start of my booking process to the clean up at the event, I want my clients to always know that I put my heart in every aspect.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would be our family vacations. Whether we were traveling local to San Antonio or Corpus Christi or further to Carlsbad Caverns or Niagra Falls, I had a blast. Spending uninterrupted family time away from our. normal routines is something I will forever cherish. We still talk about the memories we made and thanks to my mom, we have the pictures to look back and reminiscence.
