Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Martinez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our story starts like almost every other person on the planet. A conversation with God.
You have a plan. God says, “I have a better one.”
You say, “Well, I don’t know… I think mine is really good.”
Then, God says, “Alright, try yours, and let’s see how that turns out.”
Coming from a past place of being so concerned about what others thought of me, it’s official to say I learned the hard way. I did not trust God’s original plan for my life, took matters into my own hands, and it led me here.
But guess what? Here is a beautiful place. It’s where He knew I would land all along.
Here’s the kindest thing about God… Even in a step of not following His instructions, He’s still a redeemer. It’s His thing- to restore everything you’ve done for a greater good and purpose… His glory.
In my story, God used every gift He designed for me and every passion He placed in my heart to do more than I could ask for, think, or imagine.
Gospel Girls was born out of a place of creating a solution to a problem that almost stopped me from experiencing a relationship with Christ.
Gospel Girls is a women’s ministry with the sole mission to grow women in their walk with Christ through a relationship with Him. It’s an open door to welcome the curious and help them understand. A place for them to not be intimidated to walk in the door as they say YES to Jesus. A loving place to learn and grow. A place to then serve and pour out to the women in our community. A place to create godly friendships with girls who believe, “It would be an honor to have you come sit with us.”
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All good things take time. The best stories are never those who take the highway but are actually those that experience the bumpy parts. The bumpier the better because that adds to your character. It’s the same for an organization. If everything is easy, you may be doing it wrong. We need to be in places where we are stretched, matured, and refined.
Through jumping into my walk “later in life” than the rest of the world (or at least that’s what I used to tell myself) – I learned that DFW needed a place where we can go after we say “Okay, Yes Jesus… but now what?” I did not have that place at first. I walked in spaces feeling embarrassed and frustrated that I did not understand “all of the terms” or know if I needed to be baptized or not. I didn’t get it… yet. Until I got into a community of girls (women) who loved on me, were patient with my questions, and sat with me in life’s most difficult times. Through their kindness, not only did I get to know what godly friendships look like, but I also grew. Those friendships have remained the same today and have grown even deeper as we have continued to dig into the word and point each other back to The Truth. (That’s The Bible!)
We are a brand-new women’s ministry that launched on February 5, 2023.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Who is… Gospel Girls? We are a women’s ministry that hosts events and gatherings with women all across DFW. Our goal is to connect, learn, and grow together. What kind of gatherings? We have small groups launching that range from Gospel Girl Life Groups, Gospel Girl Mom Groups, Gospel Girl 101: Bible Basics Groups, etc. We also hold quarterly gatherings where we meet one another, connect to other like-minded women, grow deeper in our faith, learn together, pray, and then carry it back into our lives.
We are known for being The Church (the body of believers) outside of the church walls. We host our gatherings in spaces across DFW that aren’t tied to a particular church. However, we direct women towards joining and getting plugged in their own local church. The best part? SO many beautiful people coming together from different churches all for one common purpose. God.
What makes us different? We are a fun and welcoming space that serves those who have been walking with God their whole lives in the same space as those who are just saying yes for the first time today. Our mission and vision explain why we do what we do.
Our Mission | Empowered by the Word of God, Gospel Girls strives to foster a community of faith where women gather to illuminate their lives with Christ’s light. Through our intentional events and gatherings, we aim to encourage, support, and empower one another in our journey of faith, equipping each woman to shine brightly in her sphere of influence.
The vision of Gospel Girls is to ignite a movement of women who radiate Christ’s light in every corner of their lives and throughout our community. We envision women who are grounded in the Word of God, actively engaged in fellowship, and committed to spreading hope and love in dark places. By nurturing spiritual growth and fostering deep connections, we aspire to see lives transformed and communities impacted as women embody the light of Christ in all they do. Together, we envision a world illuminated by the collective radiance of women who embrace their calling to be beacons of hope and grace in a world that yearns for His light.
We are most proud of the girls that have plugged into our community that we are creating. We have seen lives truly transformed and spheres of influence greatly impacted.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
You may not know this, but I was an elementary teacher for 10 years. I am now an instructional facilitator (academic coach) in an elementary school. I’ve learned that I really enjoy working with adults because adult needs aren’t very different from a child’s needs. Children need to be engaged, have clarity, understand the why, feel seen, and leave with tools on how to use something without assistance. I’ve come to learn that adults need all of those good things, too.
I did not choose to go into ministry, but God did. I would’ve never thought this would be the route, but He had a plan to use my passions (event planning, organization, and creativity) along with my gifts (teaching and writing) to do His thing for His daughters. I’m blown away every time I close my eyes and say, “ok!” It’s not always a yes with an exciting exclamation mark. Sometimes it’s just “ok… I trust you,” and that has been enough for His plan.
If this sparks something in you, come join us. Let’s shine light into our city, DFW.
