Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan.
Hi Nathan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I come from a small town in rural central New York, where watching movies sparked a deeper curiosity about how stories are built visually which led me to use photography and filmmaking as a way to better understand that language. After directing a short documentary that screened at a college film festival, I had the chance to work on some indie films in roles such as camera operator, grip, and some VFX, which has continued to spark my passion. I am drawn to creating work that captures real moments and emotions, exploring the subtle details that make stories feel alive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly hasn’t been a straight path. I’ve gained some hands on experience, but mostly it’s been a process of learning and figuring things out as I go. The challenges along the way have only fueled my drive and helped shape the stories I want to tell.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work centers on capturing real moments and emotions through a cinematic lens. I use both photography and filmmaking to explore perspective, light, and atmosphere, creating visuals that feel intimate, grounded, and personal. I’m known for crafting work that feels honest and paying attention to the subtle details that make a story resonate. What I’m most proud of is being able to turn my perspective and experiences into visuals that connect with people. My style is quiet and observational, rooted in reality but framed in a cinematic way, and I think what sets me apart is my focus on authenticity and finding beauty in the everyday.
What are your plans for the future?
For the future, I’m focused on continuing to grow as a storyteller and exploring new ways to bring real, human stories to life. I want to keep developing my skills, taking on projects that challenge me, and creating work that feels authentic and meaningful. I’m excited to see where my experiences and perspective can take me next while continuing to learn and grow in the work I’m doing now.
