Today we’d like to introduce you to Odious.
Hi Odious, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We formed back in 2022 under the name Parasyte but switched it to Odious in early 2023. Originally, Parasyte was a 3 piece thrash band with our members Carlitos, Dean, and Justin. But with the additions of our other two members Edgar and Harley, we quickly became the five piece band we are today. Our first show was on October 23rd, 2023 at Rubber Gloves in Denton opening up for popular local acts KÜDÜ, Distain, and Pulse. After the release of our EP “Created To Slaughter” we’ve been slowly gaining some attention from the local metal scene and beyond.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, just like every band out there, we’ve had some bumps along the way. Such as when we had equipment failure before recording our debut EP. Since that happened it delayed the EP coming out but to make up for it we played shows and eventually released our debut single Killdozer not too long after. And of course to follow up with the single releasing we also released our debut EP “Created To Slaughter”.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a five piece thrash metal band from Arlington, Texas. Over the course of the last year we’ve played with big up and coming metal acts such as Labyrinth and Void. And in June we will be playing with the South Carolina band Interceptor, who’s also big in the underground metal scene. Our debut EP “Created To Slaughter” has gained some attention in the underground metal scene following its release on August 14th, 2024.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
We define success as something you love doing without feeling forced. Like how we love playing the music we do without feeling any resentment towards it.
