Check Out Roman Da’Fro’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roman Da’Fro.

Hi Roman, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Back when I went to South Garland High school I use to love AP English Literature (Shout out my teachers Ms Mack). Something about being able to convey your words in a vast array of elegant ways was so cool to me. This was at a point I wasn’t event doing music yet but writing poems and short stories . I got into music after seeing my dad and uncle making music out of our old home garage. I remember after seeing them and becoming inspired which made me think to myself “I wanna rap”. I wrote my 1st song to Biggie Smalls & Eminem’s “Deadwrong the rest is history. Since then I’ve been consistently dropping music, performing and planning my own events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely been a bumpy road! Financial struggles from bad investments, trying to figure out ways to monetize myself as artist or just life in general. Now a new issue is the emergence of A.I. While it does make me worry in a since that more money will be taken from artist a whole if no regulations are put in place I am also hopeful because you can’t replicate human authenticity. The other thing was marketing figuring out strategies in promoting myself as an artist. Starting off you’re wearing multiple hats as an artist it can be quite demanding. Luckily now I have a little assistance from one good friends Gissell as an manager, my brother Leonis for short form content and a few other people to get things moving.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a hip hop artist/producer I love all things hip hop. A lot of my listeners compare me to artist like Danny Brown or Denzel Curry if I had to give you a since of sound. I also curate some of my own events such as my annual showcase The W.A.L.F show which stands for We Ain’t Living Forever. Recently this year I got to do an interview on 97.9 The Beat with Spaceboi Fresh. I also threw the 2nd W.A.L.F Show in Downtown Garland at a venue called Bee Hippy which had 100+ attendees. At the end of the day I’m all about community building that’s what will take me far. From my fanlist “Roman’s Empire” to hosting a platform for other artist to display there artform

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I have a new single coming out October 20th called “Groovy” featuring my music buddy ThatdudeD3z produced by Rennis Jackson. I also have an upcoming show at “Elm St Saloon” in Deep Ellum 6pm-10:30pm curated by Tac The Dj.
