Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Hooker.
Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I graduated from high school in 2018, and I didn’t attend college because at the time I felt I wasn’t ready. So, I attended Trinity Valley Community college for a semester and left Trinity for Richland Community College for my second semester. I finished the semester out and while I’m attending college, I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. The time when I graduated until the end of 2019, I would say was the roughest in my life. It was like a dark cloud was over me. I am thankful for that experience and I wouldn’t be where I am today without those rough times. Fast forward to the end of 2019, which is when I first started to realize photography is something I want to do. My first camera was a Sony a6000. I would spend hours and hours on YouTube watching photography videos. September of 2020 I had my first gig to be Bishop Dunne’s football team photographer. That was a great experience for me because I got my feet wet with sports photography. also want to thank head coach, Coach Slaughter for giving me the opportunity. Everything honestly took off for me in November of 2020, and and since then I’ve been locked in on getting better and honing my craft.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The journey has been fairly smooth for the most part. Learning something new is never easy and I failed over and over again, but i refused to give up. If you stick with something long enough and stay consistent with the grind, you’ll eventually break through.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Sports and lifestyle photography. I am most proud of the shots I captured for the athletes. I would say me putting in countless time to learn the ins and outs of my camera. The correct settings to use play a huge role. Being able to go out of your comfort zone to get the “shot”Knowing I can always do more is what pushes me.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Reach out to me via social media or email and by sharing my work on their platform. Also I would like to give a quick shout out to all of my family, mother, dad, siblings, granny, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, all of them have played a huge role in my success.
