Check Out Shelley Sengsavang’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shelley Sengsavang.

Hi Shelley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a stay-at-home mom to an 18-month-old, and I love filling my days by finding the best places to go in DFW—food spots, activities, and vlogging along the way. Content creation gives me an escape from the daily routine. I also love sharing beauty recommendations; I’m licensed in cosmetology, and I know how important it is to find the best products and services that truly cater to people’s individual needs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety, especially while finding myself again after postpartum depression. It’s easy to feel like I’m not doing enough, but being a mom is more than enough. My content creation or accounts isn’t where I want it to be yet, but I won’t give up! It brings me joy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I create beauty and lifestyle content. What I’m most proud of is that I’m not afraid to create to my fullest potential anymore. Putting myself out there used to be really scary, and now it actually feels normal.

What sets me apart is that, besides sharing life in DFW, I also love sharing my Southeast Asian culture and food. Growing up in America as the daughter of immigrants, I used to feel embarrassed of my Asian culture. Now, being able to celebrate it through cooking videos, mukbangs, and documenting Thai, Lao, and Cambodian New Year in the spring at different temples feels really full-circle for me.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Don’t give up if it makes you happy. Try to be original and not pay attention to what the next person is doing and how. I wish i started sooner without the fear of judgement.
