Today we’d like to introduce you to Theresa Morris.
Hi Theresa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started doing lashes early 2016 with a chain company and was unhappy with the training and management, so I left and thought it wasn’t for me. I took a brief break and ended up starting it up again with a smaller company and ended up teaching myself different techniques from YouTube. I practiced A LOT. Thankfully I had great clients that would let me practice different things on them without complaint. I ended up at another chain company, and that’s where I fell in love with lashing. I wanted to grow with the company, but the owner and I wasn’t seeing eye to eye, and I left and took another brief break. Fast forward to 2020, when I had my daughter and covid happened – I thought, what better time than now to start my own business. I slowly started putting things together and buying products, and by end of 2020/early 2021, I started my own business. It was slow at first, but I was determined, and I did a lot of advertisements. Honestly, though, I built my business off of word of mouth. I am busy enough for me that I am no longer accepting new clients for full sets but will still take lash lift clients. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing clientele and their loyalty and of course, my husband who has helped me with words of encouragement.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning it was a bit of a rough start. I actually had a Groupon up to help build but I quickly learned that those clients do not stay with you and are just looking for a deal. I haven’t had many complaints, but I have had 3 “hard” clients that I had to deal with and “fire” as a client. I will always stand my ground and stick up for myself when it comes to my business. My only struggle was in the beginning when I was still trying to build a clientele, but I built pretty quickly and am very happy with how quickly I built my business.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a lash artist and I specialize in volume sets. I love being able to give clients that extra boost of confidence. Whether they are 16 or 65 – lashes will boost anyone’s confidence. It puts that extra pep in your step, and I love that I can do that for a client. I think what sets me apart from others is that I really try to connect with my clients. I love that my clients are able to trust me and open up to me. I feel like my space is a safe spot and clients feel comfortable and look forward to coming into their appointments.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most is that my clients leave happy. I never want a client to leave unhappy and will always try my best to resolve any issues if there are any. I always try to listen to my clients and what they want and try to achieve the look they are going for.
