Today we’d like to introduce you to Tony Rorie.
Hi Tony, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Men and Ladies of Honor began in 2003. While working as an administrator and then principal of a public school of 1300 students in the second highest child mortality zip code of Dallas, I recognized the tremendous need for young people to be mentored and trained in principles of character. My office was full weekly with students, most of which were “At-Risk” and without a father in the home. I decided to do something more preventative than curative. So, with the permission of the Superintendent, I began mentoring 4 boys after school. The four boys quickly grew to become leaders and the group swelled to fifty boys. The impact was notable. We then expanded to three campuses, and now is in 9 states and 14 countries including Honduras, Belize, Swaziland and South Africa. The 1st year the Men of Honor program was instituted the campus experienced a 46% reduction in disciplinary incident rates for the entire school, an 80% reduction in rates among the students that were in the program. Since the early years we have received even stronger results as evidenced by Beaumont school receiving 58% reduction in their disciplinary incident rates as evidenced by PEIMS data. There was a noticeable increase in student leadership and morale on the campus. What began as simply meeting a local need became a replicatable and effective strategy to changing young lives around the world.
As a veteran youth worker with over 30 years experience, I have studied the issues that affect youth culture. We have used various discipleship tools and been involved with several movements of youth ministry. In 2003, I was commissioned by Dr. Edwin Louis Cole’s Christian Men’s Network to train men worldwide. This mandate was birthed out of a ministry focused on men to disciple them and was effectively doing so in 210 nations of the world. The charge given was to “Build Men, Raise Sons”. I recognized that youth were in need of these truths as well, the truth that Manhood and Christ-likeness are synonymous. As the father of three beautiful young ladies and one champion son, I realized that the greatest need most students have is a father to love and affirm them to greatness.
My experience with mentoring and training youth has led me to identify and address the same need in Men. We have opened an outreach to men in our community and have weekly meetings speci=fically for men that help them “fill the gaps” that they missed in their childhood when it comes to manhood, leadership, marriage and fathering
In 2024, we also launched Honor Church in Rowlett, TX, that is growing and helping families grow in their relationship with God and their journey of personal greatness.
Honor Church exists to elevate the lives of others through the power of God, so that they can be their very best for God, their families, and their world. To create strong leaders, strong marriages, strong families, pour into people and help Those people develop the kingdom principles and practices that will help them to fulfill God‘s dream for their life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been fun, but challenging. From fundraising to selling the vision, we have worked hard to make sure that the plight of the fatherless child is in the spotlight.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
