Check Out Trey Lawrence’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trey Lawrence.

Hi Trey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Starting off primarily producing, I went by the name of “Endemic” I’ve always had a love for Hip-Hop/Rap music, and the beats specifically drew me in at an early age. I went from mimicking the beats I’ve heard on the radio in the car to producing some of my own around the age of 14… I did this and would occasionally sell my beats to other artists up until my Senior year of High School. 2013 Was the year I released my first track; I wrote a verse to Kendrick Lamars “Backseat Freestyle” had a talented friend of mine who I work with till this day (Draven [ClbHrtbrk]) shoot the video, and the rest is history!

2015-2016 during my 1st full year in the U.S. Army, I rebranded myself as “Trey Lawrence” with the help from a Close Friend and Artist colleague of mine “Nature Nate” (Currently Known As “Jomei”) and Signed a Distribution deal to a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Where SS Global Entertainment is my label (CEO. Tiffany Gaines) and handles my releases & publishing.

Currently, in 2022 I have 2 Full-Length albums and 1 official EP in my discography; working on my 3rd and Greatest Album to date, which will be Self-Titled. I’ve recorded in more studios than I can count. I am responsible for the development of many upcoming artists, whether it be in the studio or handling the business side. I’ve received “Thumb Ups” or words of encouragement from the likes of “The Game,” “Jadakiss,” & “Zaytoven,” to name a few, and I’ve added DJing & Graphic Design to my list of skills and offer these as services to other upcoming artists as well.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In no ways has this road been easy. I’ve been at this 5+ years, and my progression has been nothing short of Amazing. There’s times where focus has to shift from Trey Lawrence to “Paul L. Johnson III” (My Govt. name) because life events get hectic. There’s times where numbers may be stagnant, or self-doubt creeps in.

And, of course, there’s been multiple times I’ve considered hanging it up but never for good.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
So, I’m most known for my style and professionalism when it comes to how I market myself as an artist and brand altogether. Every Cover Art in my Discography I either made myself or collaborated with someone on. I design all my promotional videos, as well as website. My notoriety for DJing has also increased since my skills have grown.

But of course, I specialize in Recording music. I’m most proud of my consistency as far as sound and my vibe sonically altogether. It’s only grown since I’ve incorporated my own night aesthetic and color scheme.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I’ve taken multiple financial risks in this industry when it comes to promoting myself and paying for promotion or some form of exposure. I’ve learned that risks are necessary but only when all outcomes have been weighed, and you have knowledge about the “risk” or endeavor. I’ve also learned that slow and steady wins the race, and especially when it comes to the music business, if it sounds too good to be true, it more than likely is false.
