Check Out Treylieus Curry’s Story

Have an amazing holiday!Today we’d like to introduce you to Treylieus Curry.

Hi Treylieus, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began doing poetry in church and even as a little boy my grandmother saw something in me, encouraging me to keep going. But as I grew older, I had a waning love for poetry.Looking back, I believe I truly had a desire for apostleship through a creative craft using life experiences, but I didn’t know how to harness it. So, from poetry, I tried to rap then radio broadcasting at my high school. That landed me at The University of North Texas, studying Radio Broadcasting but my personal life was tumultuous. Ultimately I had a near-death experience, so I decided to go back home, get discipled, and change. In “changing,” I placed my desires for poetry on the back burner, I got a 9-5, and began to position my life for success. I thought I was where I needed and wanted to be, after surpassing my goals at my job, I still had an itch to fulfill this hallow void left inside of me.

So, I went back to what I knew, God. I asked him plain as day to show me my purpose, I was met with silence and questions. I went back to my childhood passion and began to writing as I waited. As a kid I wanted to become an author. I spent summers at my great grandmother’s house in east Texas working on a non-fiction book. My mother’s written a book, my grandmother written two poetry books, and looking back in life, English and Creative Writing were always a passion of mine. So, I began to search social media for a publisher. I ran across a woman name Mary Banks, and in one of our many sessions while she review my dismal social media, she crossed a poem I wrote and shared. That piqued her interest-unlike my manuscript- and she said, “I think you’re a poet.” The introvert in me immediately responded before I could; I told her “Naw, that involves getting in front of people.” She said I should try it. So, I did. I took that as the answer from God I was waiting on. I started going to Open Mics here in Dallas, and it lead to me meeting some amazing and talented people. Now my goal is to continue to grow as an artist, business owner, and continue to tell my story.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been an easy journey. I’ve faced many critics in family, friends, and people within the industry. I’ve even faced doubts within myself whether I’m doing the right thing or not, but ever time I faced a dead end or closed door, God seems to shine a light through the crack that motivates me to keep going.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a poet, motivational speaker, keynote speaker, teacher, and host. I’m best known for my storytelling ability and that’s something I’m proud of. I try to incorporate my story into my pieces and allow my sets to flow as such. It’s a fun and creative way to let those that don’t know me find out more about me and hopefully feel inspired.

What’s next?
I look forward all the places God has set out for me. I want to grow as a brand. Continue to write and publish my own book someday. As well as travel across the world doing poetry and learning from the best. I strive to encourage the youth not to make some of the same mistakes as me, and encourage those listening that God does give second chances.
