Today we’d like to introduce you to Tunisia Jones.
Hi Tunisia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey as an entrepreneur began long before Pure Essence Beauty Bar. I’ve owned and operated other businesses over the years, and each one helped shape my leadership style, my discipline, and my commitment to creating meaningful experiences for the people I serve. Those experiences, combined with my military background, taught me how to operate with intention, structure, and a deep sense of responsibility, qualities that continue to guide me today.
Pure Essence Beauty Bar was born from a desire to create a space where wellness, beauty, and alignment come together in a way that feels both elevated and accessible. I started small, but I brought with me the strategic mindset and confidence that come from years of entrepreneurship and service. Over time, the vision expanded into something much larger: a full-service wellness environment rooted in care, professionalism, and intentionality.
Now, as I transition Pure Essence Beauty Bar into a fully built‑out spa space in Hurst, it feels like a natural evolution of everything I’ve learned and everything I’m building toward. This new chapter reflects growth, alignment, and the standard I’m committed to setting as a veteran-owned business in the wellness industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth, but every part of it has been meaningful. Growing Pure Essence Beauty Bar has required me to stretch in ways I didn’t always expect. I’ve had to make major financial decisions, manage expansion, build a team, and navigate the realities of moving into a larger, fully built‑out space, all while maintaining the standard and experience my brand is known for.
There were moments where I had to pause, reassess, and rebuild systems from the ground up. I’ve had to learn how to balance rising operational costs with fair compensation, how to lead with clarity during times of transition, and how to keep the business moving forward even when the path wasn’t clear. But each challenge strengthened my discipline, sharpened my strategy, and pushed me to elevate the way I operate.
Looking back, the struggles weren’t setbacks; they were the training ground. They helped me grow into the kind of founder who can lead a team, expand a brand, and build something sustainable with intention.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Pure Essence Beauty Bar, my work centers around advanced esthetics and results‑driven skincare. I specialize in treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, microchanneling, microcurrent, and corrective skincare services that support long‑term skin health. My approach blends science, intention, and education — helping clients understand their skin and the habits that influence it.
Education is truly what sets me apart. I don’t just perform treatments; I teach my clients how to care for their skin beyond the treatment room. I’m known for breaking things down in a way that makes sense and empowers people to make informed decisions about their routines and lifestyle. One of the things I’m most proud of is the teen skincare education I offer, providing teens with a safe and welcoming space to learn proper skincare techniques early and build confidence.
I’m also expanding into broader health and wellness coaching, offering sessions that help clients understand the connection between their skin, habits, and overall well-being. This coaching element is a core part of my mission, supporting clients not just with treatments but with the knowledge and guidance to create long‑term change.
As a veteran‑owned business, I bring structure, professionalism, and a high standard of care to everything I do. What truly differentiates my brand is the combination of advanced services, intentional education, and a wellness‑centered environment designed to support the whole person, not just their skin.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
People are always surprised to learn how deeply curious I am about skin, wellness, and the mind‑body connection. I can talk about ingredients, habits, and why stress shows up on the skin the way some people talk about their favorite shows. I’ll be giving a facial and casually explaining the science behind what I’m seeing, like it’s a fun fact of the day.
Another surprise is that I’m a veteran; most people don’t expect the calm, grounded spa owner to have a military background. I always joke that I went from boots to beauty, and somehow it fits.
And even with everything I do, I’m still a full‑time learner. I’ll be finishing my Master’s in Health Psychology this spring, and I’m constantly studying and expanding my knowledge. I’m very level‑headed by nature, so all that learning just helps me support my clients in an even deeper, more grounded way.
