Check Out Upasana Bubber’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Upasana Bubber.

Hi Upasana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The early days of the pandemic were a pivotal time for me. With the world feeling so uncertain and quiet, I found myself looking for ways to bring beauty and joy into my own home. I started styling tablescapes and decorating little corners of the house, creating these small intimate moments that felt special.

Shared a picture with a friend and she encouraged me to post online, a bit hesitant at first I began sharing those snippets online and what started as a personal creative outlet rapidly grew into something much more. Forever grateful to my friend for encouraging me.

I was surprised by the number of people who connected with what I was doing and started asking for help with their own events. It was a clear sign that this passion for styling could become a real business. That little seed of an idea blossomed into Events By UB.

It’s been an incredible journey from the quiet dining table to designing all kinds of events for my clients. Whether it’s a corporate gathering, a backyard party or a wedding at a grand venue. I have had the joy of working on all kinds of events from baby showers and sweet sixteen celebrations to anniversaries and cultural celebrations like Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies. My focus has always been on creating custom, unforgettable experiences that reflect each client’s unique story.

I’m so grateful for where those humble beginnings have led me. The core of my work is still bringing joy and a sense of occasion to life, no matter the scale. It’s truly rewarding to have turned a moment of quiet creativity into a thriving business that helps people celebrate their biggest milestones.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting Events By UB has been the most rewarding challenge of my life. The path has been more of a winding road than a smooth, straight line. It’s been an incredibly humbling experience filled with constant learning, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

In the beginning, my focus was purely on the creative side – the joy of putting together a beautiful tablescape or a unique backdrop. However I quickly realized that being a creative entrepreneur requires a different set of skills entirely. The business side of things, the contracts, managing finances and navigating vendor relationships was a whole new world for me. The Dallas events scene is incredibly fast paced and I had to learn how to keep up while also carving out my own niche.

A significant challenge has been helping clients understand the value of what we do. An event isn’t a simple collection of decorations, it’s a carefully crafted experience that requires meticulous planning and execution. We are working with people’s most cherished memories, their weddings, anniversaries, baby showers and more. While the end result is often beautiful, it’s easy for people to underestimate the time, effort and expertise that goes into creating that perfect moment.

For me the true measure of success isn’t just the final look of an event but the joy on a client’s face when they see their vision come to life. That feeling, that profound connection we make in helping someone celebrate a milestone is what keeps me energized through the long hours and the unexpected challenges. Each event has been a masterclass in problem solving and communication and it’s a constant reminder that the real magic is in the human connection, not just the decor.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Every single event we create is a custom work of art. We don’t believe in one size fits all packages or pre-set themes. Instead, we dive deep into a client’s story and vision to craft something truly personal. Whether its a specific color palette that holds special meaning or incorporating unique elements that reflect a couple’s journey, our specialization is in bringing those individual details to life. This is what sets Events By UB apart – our commitment to genuine personalization.

I believe what I have become known for is my attention to detail. I believe that the magic of an event is in the little things, the unexpected texture of a fabric, the way lighting hits a centerpiece, or the perfect placement of a hand tied ribbon. I obsess over these elements because they are what elevate an event from pretty to truly unforgettable.

When I look back, I’m most proud of the fact that I have built a business from a simple passion despite the challenges and the steep learning curve of entrepreneurship, I get to wake up every day and do something I genuinely love. It’s a privilege to be a part of people’s most special moments and to help them celebrate life’s milestones in a beautiful and meaningful way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have come to see luck not as a simple good or bad thing, but as a series of moments where opportunity and resilience have intersected. There’s a certain kind of luck in being in the right place at the right time, and for me the pandemic was a strange catalyst- a forced pause that gave me the time and space to discover this passion. It was also pure serendipity to connect with mentors and fellow vendors in the Dallas community who believed in me from the start. The support and those early connections were an incredible stroke of good fortune.

But some of the biggest learning moments have come from what felt like pure disaster. The time a crucial delivery was delayed, or an unexpected storm threatened to derail an entire outdoor event. In those high pressure moments, you realize that your entire business in on the line. It’s easy to look good when everything goes right, the real test is when things go wrong, those days force you to think on your feet, to problem solve and to build the kind of trust with clients that’s not just about a beautiful design but about confidence that you can handle anything.

This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my husband who believed in my dream and invested in my business, my daughter who helps me with the setups and takedowns and provides design advise and the endless encouragement from my sister who is incredibly talented and a marketing maestro.
