Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Medeiros.
Hi Veronica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey in the world of art is deeply rooted in my Colombian heritage and nature by a rich cultural environment. growing up surrounded by artists, writers, painters, musicians, ignited my early exposure to the arts, my passion to express beyond words, for me set the stage for a life long creative exploration.
During high school, I win a short story writing competition.
Since I was a child, I have always loved drawing and writing,I always have a vivid imagination, this allows me to express my creativity, emotions, and unique view of the world on paper or canvas.
As entering my professional world I embrace tether and television in Colombia, this help me to show cast versatility and creativity, y experience in this mediums. Undoubtedly contribute to my multifaceted approach to artists expression.
In 2002 I move to United States, making a new chapter in my journey. During this time I worked with Clear Channel Radio, as a Radio Producer, broadcast and creative and I rich a significant milestone by becoming the first woman in South Carolina to hold the position of Radio Producer.
Over time my artistic evolution has taken center stage, moving to North Texas made me reflect a big commitment to visual arts, and with the support of my family and friends I embraced my own distinctive style, blending emotion with abstraction, my work is rich on texture and color, guided by my belief in finding beauty in imperfection. For me imperfections, exaggeration in color or texture make each piece unique and through my paintings I seek to share this perspective, a unique view of the world, creating a visual language that reflects experiences, emotions, my cultural roots, merging my heritage with the love and passion I found in my new home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My journey hasn’t been easy. Becoming a ten mother challenged me to grow quickly, but also gave me the strength to finish Hight School and work even harder to follow my dreams, going to college and becoming a professional. I remember working several jobs to help pay my bills, while finding time to go to school and be a mother and hold my dreams. All the tears, desperation have shaped me as an artist.
I don’t believe any challenge or obstacles is impossible went you combine hard work with passion, and stay true to where you come from and where you want to go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in texture and love the sense of dimension I create often pushing beyond the canvas. I known for my floral paintings, colorful landscapes and my expressive, unconventional human forms.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I currently volunteer with Allen Arts Alliance, where I serve on the board representing the Visual Arts League of Allen. Im deeply committed to growing the arts community Allen, and one of our long term goals over the next five years is to help establish a cultural center that can serve as a creative hub for artists and the community.
I believe it’s essential to bring the public together around the importance of cultural arts. Building that share understanding helps create stronger support for artist and ensures that the arts continue to thrive within the community.
supporting fellow artists is especially important to me. Im passionate about creating opportunities for artist to develop their work, connect with others, and have meaningful spaces to showcase their talents.
At the same time, Im focused on expanding my own presence across the state. My work stands apart from traditional commercial art and tends to resonate with unique audience.
