Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Cameron Jr.
Tim, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born & raised in Little Rock, AR. My love for art developed at a young age with me drawing my favorite cartoon characters and people. At the time, it was just a hobby that gave me peace of mind away from basketball. It wasn’t until attending high school I realized how broad art was. This was something I could actually see myself successful at. I researched and found out that I could do way more creative things with Graphic Design. So, that’s the major I chose for college at Arkansas State University. While attending college, I grew interest in other things such as photography, videography, & fashion. Never wanted to be put in a box of specifically doing one thing. I decided learning all of them could make me a stronger artist. Took a branding class my last year in college where it consisted of creating your own brand/business. It included everything from designing the logo, brand stationery, and etc. Then it finally clicked for me! I can do all these things I love under this one brand I’m creating. That brand is called INVENTIVE Designs. It works out perfectly because design, photography, videography, & fashion compliment one another. After graduating, I started to take my freelance brand serious. I’ve worked with some great clients/businesses who has helped my skills & brand grow. Recently took a risk by moving to Texas for better opportunities and the creative atmosphere. I feel like this move is going to benefit my art in the long run.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do, why, and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a graphic designer & photographer that combines both elements to create memorable artwork. My artwork mainly consists of brand identity, advertising design, portrait, and conceptual photography. Over the years I’ve found that these are areas I’m strong in creatively. Working with individuals who want to start their own brand/business has been something I’ve grown to love. Gives me the opportunity to take their thought and bring it to reality lasting a lifetime. People should take away that I’m versatile & my artwork is appealing to the eye when it comes to life.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
It can be very tough for artists; we’re in a day & age where social media popularity overshadows talent sometimes. Don’t allow that to discourage you. Let your passion for art fuel you to produce consistently. You never know who’s watching or what inspiration you are giving the next person. Taking more risk instead of playing it safe is a lesson I wish I learned earlier. Some of the best opportunities are presented to you when doing so.
