Today we’d like to introduce you to Verandah Mims.
Hi Verandah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was on Drill team in high school and we were limited to one single eyeshadow palette. I always wanted to add a little more to the look to not look so in unison. That’s honestly when I fell in love with the idea of makeup. I went to Cosmetology school literally the year after I graduated. It took me a while over my designated time to finish because I got pregnant in the middle of my course. But I was still determined to finish and DID a few months after my son was born. I’ve been heavily involved in my craft ever since. I do freelance makeup as well as a YouTube channel!! Verandahmarie (Cocktails & Cosmetics).
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been hardly more than anything to stay consistent. I’ve always worked two jobs outside of makeup. Getting pregnant was no easy thing while trying to pursue my dreams. I was sick as ever. My YouTube channel has been a Lil bit of a struggle. Getting it off the ground and gain followers as well as being consistent.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I do makeup period!!! I specialize in eyebrows no matter the grooming or size. I am known for the gems on the eyes when applying makeup. I am most proud of starting MAC Cosmetics in the very small city of Corpus Christi, where I moved for 14 months to start the Job and chasing love to my home location of Dallas, TX and was able to secure my job here and more with hard work and long hours overnight working two jobs.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has played no role in my career!! I’ve put in time more than anything and played my role and position to wait my turn.
