Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Shockey.
Hi Aaron, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up playing football and eventually went on to play quarterback in college. At that point in my life, my identity was completely tied to sports, and like a lot of college athletes, I honestly didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do after graduation. The only thing I really knew was that I wanted to build something of my own and work for myself.
That mindset naturally led me to real estate. I got my license with very little direction other than a belief that if I worked hard enough, I could create my own path. My early days were full of ups and downs – long hours, a lot of rejection, and trying to figure out the business at a very fast pace. There were definitely moments of doubt, but those challenges actually shaped the way I operate today.
Over time, I started building momentum, studying the industry, learning from mentors, and leaning into my competitive background from football. Eventually, that translated into real success. Today, I run a top-producing team and I’m also an individual top producer myself with over one hundred million in career sales in both residential and commercial real estate. I’ve been honored with multiple awards and have been featured in several publications and media outlets including D Magazine, Fox News, Modern Luxury, Fort Worth Magazine, MetroTex 40 Under 40, and others.
Looking back, I’m proud of the journey not because it was easy, but because I had to grow into the person who could handle it. Real estate ended up being the perfect combination of competition, leadership, and entrepreneurship, and it’s pushed me to constantly evolve. And honestly, I still feel like I’m just getting started.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I got into real estate, I didn’t come from a family in the business, and I didn’t have a built-in network or clients waiting on me. I had to build everything from scratch. My first few years were a mix of long days, slow months, and a lot of uncertainty about whether this would actually work.
One of the biggest challenges was learning how to navigate a business that’s 100% commission. There were times early on when deals fell apart, clients changed their minds, or the market slowed down. Those moments force you to question everything – but they also force you to grow.
Another challenge was simply learning how to market myself and treat real estate like a real business. It’s very easy in the beginning to get discouraged or burned out, because the wins don’t come quickly. I had to teach myself systems, discipline, and consistency.
But honestly, the struggles were the foundation. The setbacks taught me how to be resilient, how to negotiate, how to communicate, and how to deliver a higher level of service. And they forced me to sharpen my mindset.
Looking back, those early challenges shaped the way I operate today. They built the grit and work ethic that helped me break through, become a top producer, and ultimately build a team. So no, it hasn’t been smooth but I don’t think I’d be where I am if it had been.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Aaron Shockey Group?
I run The Aaron Shockey Group, a top-producing real estate team based in Dallas-Fort Worth. We specialize in residential real estate with a strong focus on luxury, new construction, investment properties, and helping families who are relocating into the DFW market.
I’ve built our brand around a very personalized, white-glove approach meaning we don’t just help people buy and sell homes, we advise them like partners and treat every client relationship like a long-term relationship. Whether it’s a first-time buyer or a multi-million-dollar luxury client, our standard is extremely high.
What we’re most known for: high-end presentation and marketing, off-market deal sourcing, strategic negotiation, luxury branding and client experience, deep market knowledge of DFW, and being extremely accessible and hands-on.
I’m most proud of the brand itself because it reflects hard work, consistency, and a commitment to excellence. Over the years I’ve been featured in media like D Magazine, Modern Luxury, Fox News, MetroTex 40 Under 40, and others – and those features mean a lot because they represent the reputation we’ve earned.
What truly sets us apart is that I come from real estate not just as a salesperson, but as someone invested in every angle – investing, flipping, construction insights, educating clients, helping families transition, and creating long-term wealth through real estate.
Another differentiator is that I’m already building connected services around real estate – insurance, investments, partnerships, and resources so our clients have a full-service experience from start to finish. It makes the process easier, more efficient, and more valuable.
Above all, I want people to know that our brand is driven by service, integrity, results, and a competitive mindset. We care deeply about our clients, we fight hard for them, and we’re obsessed with delivering a better experience than anyone else in the market.
Real estate is more than a transaction to us it’s a relationship, and we treat it that way.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
First, my family has played an enormous role in my journey. My parents and my twin brother, Josh Shockey, have always supported me, believed in me, and pushed me to go after big goals. Having that foundation and confidence from family truly makes all the difference, especially in an entrepreneurial career where the highs and lows can be intense.
I’ve also been fortunate to have an incredible mentor in Rogers Healy. He has played a massive part in my growth not just in real estate, but in mindset, leadership, and how to think big. Having someone who has already built something great and is willing to share that wisdom has been invaluable.
My wife, Laura, and my son, Stephen James, are a huge part of my “why.” They keep me grounded, motivated, and focused on building something meaningful not just for today, but for our future as a family. They push me every single day to be better not just as a realtor or entrepreneur, but as a husband and father.
So yes, I’ve worked extremely hard, but I’ve also had incredible support. I’m genuinely grateful for every person who has believed in me along the way, and I never take that for granted.
