Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Scalsky.
Hi Alexis, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After my son was born in the summer of 2020, I knew a career change was due. Being someone who loves fitness, teaching, and supporting others be the healthiest version of themselves, I decided to become a certified personal trainer. I juggled studying and a newborn for 4 months and I finally passed my 3-hour exam to be an ACE (American Council on Exercise) certified personal trainer. That’s when Texas Mom Fitness was born!
I began with online group fitness and online personal training since Covid was an obstacle around my new career but I didn’t let that or being a new mom, stop me from growing my small business. I focused on women’s fitness and soon grew my clientele and experience. As the world opened up a bit more, I started meeting clients in person at parks for personal training and Bootcamp (which is also kid-friendly).
My Bootcamp is really special because of its smaller size which allows women to connect with and support one another through their fitness journey as well as maintaining a close working relationship with me for added support and motivation. My one Bootcamp group which started out with just 8 ladies has now tripled in size to two groups located in Aubrey. I’m the coach that knows your name, knows your strengths, and always checks in on you. My personalized approach to women’s group and individual fitness is not often found in this industry.
I always tell my one-on-one clients and Bootcampers that the best and most effective exercise is one you enjoy and that’s exactly what I do, make fitness and exercise enjoyable by fostering positive and healthy relationships between women with the common goal of being healthier and happier!
Today, I am so honored to be where I am and have met all the women, I have crossed paths with. My longest returning clients, yes multiple, have been by my side for over a year! Together, these ladies have lost so many pounds and many dropped dress sizes but more importantly, gained so much strength, endurance, and confidence while becoming healthier.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, growing Texas Mom Fitness has been a smooth road and I contribute that to the support of my family and also the support of the ladies that trust me to guide them through their fitness journey. I chose to keep my business small, under 30 clients (Bootcampers and Personal Training clients) at one time so I can give my all to each of the women who rely on me. What hasn’t been easy is balancing being a mom, home life, my time, self-care, and my business all at once. I will say that the ladies I work with make it all worth it. Every time we meet for training sessions or Bootcamp, my spirits are lifted and energized and these ladies are why I love what I do.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As I sat down to think about my business plan for Texas Mom Fitness, my mission statement, and how I was going to help women be successful in becoming healthier while losing pounds and gaining confidence along the way, I decided my mission for Texas Mom Fitness was “Empowering YOU to be a healthier YOU”. This means I strive to give women all the tools and tips how to workout safely, modify exercises, how to progress their fitness and help them stay committed to their goals. I want to help women become confident in exercise and to be able to do it without me when that time comes – but the supportive community I’ve fostered over the past year has drawn these women to continue working hard together at Texas Mom Fitness Bootcamp and Personal Training.
