Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Rich.
Hi Angela, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
While I have always enjoyed decorating for every holiday, Christmas has been, hands down, my favorite. In addition to my own home, I have been decorating trees for my friends and family for years. Seven years ago, after more than one of my friends said I should be doing this for a career, I decided to take a leap of faith, placed an ad on Nextdoor, and never looked back.
I work very hard to build relationships with my clients and am proud to say that my first client still hires me. While I understand that hiring a decorator is a luxury service, I go above and beyond to ensure that all of my clients’ holiday dreams come true, regardless of their budget.
My clients’ homes can take as little as three hours to install, while some can take more than two days. It all depends on what they want – tree, mantle, tablescape, wreaths, you name it! While I primarily focus on Christmas, I am always excited to decorate for other holidays, including Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and more. My clients are not just homeowners, but I also help decorate businesses and commercial properties during the holidays. I pride myself on utilizing what my clients currently have, helping them start fresh, or adding to their collections. I work with about 35 clients during my busy season, but my goal is to grow this even further in 2023!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Anytime you work in a creative space with differing opinions on style, it can be challenging. That’s part of the fun of this job for me, though – I get to step out of my comfort zone and use my creativity to give my clients exactly what they are looking for, even if it forces me to step outside of my personal style!
We’ve been impressed with Angela Rich Home, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As I said, my main focus is Christmas, but I enjoy decorating for all holidays. If a client comes to me with decorating needs, I’m always open and accept the challenge. I’m most proud that I took that first leap and placed the ad that helped me to grow this business. I’m also proud that it this business has forced me out of my comfort zone, and I have learned to share my tips, tricks, and infamous ribbon technique on my social media. My genuine love for the holidays and ability to envision what a client is looking for truly sets me apart.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family and friends deserve all the credit – they are the ones who first encouraged me to begin this business! Without them, I wouldn’t be where I am today. They push me, support all my crazy ideas, and enable me to do what I do. Once my business started to take off, and I realized that I needed an extra set of hands, I convinced my good friend, Jana, to help me once a week during installs. Her help alleviates some of the stress and makes my work much more enjoyable. Bouncing ideas off of another creative personality is always fun, and it makes the process that much better.
