Community Highlights: Meet Brandon James Rose of WIS Watch Straps

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon James Rose

Hi Brandon James, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts when I was a sophomore at The University of Alabama. I started my first ecommerce company, a luxury men’s fashion brand focusing on handmade leather shoes, belts, and accessories. I quickly learned social media marketing and grew with the algorithms for a few years before graduating and moving to Miami, Florida. It was there where I was hired as VP of Operations for a luxury accessory startup and helped scale them from $50k/month to over $300k/ month in under 9 months.
At this time, people started reaching out to me to help scale their businesses, improve their website and SEO, etc. I very quickly started my own digital marketing agency, The Rose Group. After a couple years of scaling other businesses into the 7 figures, I decided to start Watch Innovation Straps out of my love of horology and timepieces.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. As a one man show, I wear all the hats – From fulfillment, website management, ambassador outreach, R&D, email marketing, ad campaigns, customer service, etc. It is a lot. WIS is now at the point of doing a capital raise and seeking series A investors – Which has also been a timely and stressful experience.
The biggest struggle has been knowing what needs to be done, but not having the time or funding to execute on the ideas.
People do not talk enough about the mental ups and downs of growing a business, but I continue to remain positive and enjoy doing what I love.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We are very proud that within the first year of launching, we crossed a 6 figure run rate, hold 93% gross margins, acquired 2 retail partnerships, have 60+ ambassadors worldwide, received over 100k youtube views, reached over 4.33M impressions on Pinterest, and was featured in GQ Magazine.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am definitely a big advocate for reading and podcasts. There are so many smart individuals that have walked this path before me, and the more you can connect and learn from them, the better your odds and mental state will be. Entrepreneurship is a very isolating path. It is difficult to watch friends and family get married, have children, travel and growing in life, while working 10x harder than everyone else and not seeing the growth or path forward.

Because of this, books and podcasts allow you to connect with like minded individuals to feel like you are not alone.

My favorite book recently has been Shoe Dog by Phil Knight ( The Founder of Nike ) and my favorite podcasters are Joe Rogan & Patrick Bet-David.
