Community Highlights: Meet Brooke Coffman of Effortless by Brooke, Decorating Den Interiors

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Coffman.

Hi Brooke, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My love for all things beautiful started when I was a little girl. Some of my happiest memories are going with my mom and grandmother to pick out fabrics for whatever they were sewing at the time. I can still picture standing in the fabric store, running my hands over the textures, admiring the patterns, and watching them talk through which print would work best. Even then, I was fascinated by how something as simple as fabric could completely change the feeling of a room—or a piece of clothing—and make it feel special and personal.

That early exposure to textiles sparked something in me that never went away. As I grew older, my appreciation for design evolved from simply loving pretty things into recognizing the deeper meaning behind them—how color can create calm, how texture adds comfort, and how thoughtful details can make a home feel like a true reflection of the people living there.

Today, that same passion is still at the center of everything I do. Fabric is truly one of my favorite parts of the design process—there’s nothing I enjoy more than seeing new textile collections and meeting with vendors to discover fresh releases and inspiration. From there, I get to build layered, livable spaces around those pieces, blending function with beauty so each home feels elevated but still effortless.

Looking back, it’s special to realize that the work I do today started in such a simple way: a little girl tagging along with her mom and grandmother, falling in love with the creative process one fabric at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve been drawn to design my whole life, even though it wasn’t what I originally went to school for. In my previous career, I’d find myself dreaming about design—thinking about what it would feel like to spend my days creating beautiful spaces instead of just imagining them. But for a long time, it didn’t feel like a realistic option. I thought of design as something I loved, not something I could truly build a career around.

When the opportunity came to open my own interior design business, it honestly came out of nowhere. It felt like one of those moments in life that is too perfectly timed to ignore—almost like an intervention that was meant to be. But even with that clarity, it wasn’t a smooth road. Starting a business takes courage, and it required me to put myself out there in a way I never had before.

One of the biggest challenges early on was simply learning how to balance creativity with the realities of running a business. Interior design is artistic, but it’s also logistics, timelines, pricing, shipping, client communication, budgets, and problem-solving—often all at once. I quickly learned that success isn’t just about having a good eye; it’s about being able to manage the unexpected and still deliver a beautiful, professional result.

There were also seasons where growth felt uncomfortable—learning to charge what I was worth, setting boundaries, and realizing that I couldn’t serve everyone and still protect the client experience I wanted to provide. But each challenge helped shape the business I run today. Looking back, I’m grateful it wasn’t “smooth,” because the obstacles taught me confidence, resilience, and how to truly lead projects with excellence. And now, even on the hardest days, I feel thankful I took the leap.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

I determine your budget by offering three levels: good, better and best. These tiers help guide the selection of companies and the extent of details we incorporate into your project. The ‘Good’ level is more basic, while the ‘Better’ and ‘Best’ levels allow for more customization and higher-end options. We will discuss these options to find the best fit for your needs and preferences.

What matters most to you? Why?
For me, interior design goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about creating spaces that inspire, foster connections, and feel like home. By getting to know my clients personally, I transform their ideas into inviting, functional, and beautiful realities.

Guided by a lifelong passion for design, my goal is simple: to craft warm, timeless spaces my clients are proud of—places where life happens, memories are made, and every detail brings joy.
