Hi Chauquis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the only child of a single mother. She put me in everything you could think of to keep a curious child busy. As a result I finished school a year early from Arlington Bowie HS. Went on to get my Bachelors from Texas Wesleyan University and my Masters degree from University of North Texas.
I started my tax career in a place of transition. I was a teacher working a 9–5, but I knew deep down I wanted more—more freedom, more impact, and more time with my family. After leaving an abusive relationship, I needed to rebuild my life on my own terms.
I discovered the tax industry almost by accident, but quickly realized it was a powerful way to create both financial and mental freedom. What began as a side hustle soon replaced my full-time teaching income. From there, I started traveling, spending more time with my loved ones, and building the kind of life I had once only dreamed of.
Today, I’m in a loving, supportive relationship and I’ve turned my experience into a business that helps other tax professionals transform their own lives. Teaching has always been my passion, but I don’t just teach taxes—I mentor others to build profitable, sustainable businesses that give them the same freedom and options I fought for.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started, I was juggling motherhood, healing from an abusive relationship, and figuring out how to replace my teaching income with something completely new. There were moments of doubt, moments where I questioned if I had what it took, and plenty of lessons learned the hard way.
I had to navigate financial stress, the uncertainty of starting a business without a roadmap, and the fear of stepping away from the security of a 9–5. But every challenge taught me resilience. Each struggle pushed me to get sharper, more resourceful, and more committed to creating freedom for myself and now for the people I mentor.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tax Solutions by Chauquis?
I provide tax preparation and tax solutions for individuals and business owners with one main goal—helping them keep more of their money instead of overspending it. That means maximizing deductions, creating smart tax strategies, and offering financial clarity that puts money back where it belongs: in my clients’ pockets.
In addition to serving clients, I also mentor tax professionals who want to grow and scale their own businesses. I provide real solutions—IRS training, IRS-compliant tax software, and the guidance of an experienced tax coach—so they can move beyond just preparing returns and start building sustainable, profitable businesses.

How do you define success?
Success is being able to of course make the money, but also having the freedom to live the life I’ve always dreamed of living with my family, traveling to places I’ve only dreamed of, or sitting on my back porch watching my grandkids swim in the pool.
